1. Hello all. I have been wanting to try straight razor shaving for quite some time. I have purchased a shavette type razor to begin with, but am looking to purchase a vintage very soon. Thanks for the wealth of information I have already gleaned from this forum.

  2. Welcome, nice to have you here.
  3. Welcome to the Den! What part of Tennessee are you from? My wife and I love the Smokies, and will be up there in a couple of weeks. I always make it a point to get by Smoky Mountain Knife Works, what a store!
  4. I am in Bellevue, a burb of Nashville. Looking for something way more rural though.

  5. Hope you find something to your liking. I would like that also, but my wife would not. I'm just a few years out from retirement, maybe we can compromise and get a little more out than now. Tennessee is a pretty state. Been in the Nashville area a few times, but mostly East Tennessee. I like the Chattanooga area too, almost took a job there almost 3 decades ago.

  12. Welcome to the Den! I'm a vintage DE user but I know I'll dip into straights when the right razor speaks to me.

  15. In looking for a vintage straight, what are some things I should be on the lookout for? Not necessarily brands but issues to be aware of. I will be sending whatever I buy to the member here who will make it shave ready, just can't recall his name atm.
  16. Welcome to The Shave Den! :signs046:

You don't want blades that are warped or chipped or heavily rusted.
