  4. Me! But, I'm pipe smoking challenged at the moment. I'm trying to set a good example for my daughter about smoking in general. I still watch the threads though.

  6. Good....good. :D
    Now.
Over at TOP there was a thread regarding a possible baccy train.
Is there any interest of something like that here?
My thoughts are a little different than over there.

Doc: I can hook you up....maybe you can learn me in the ways of the Hookah ??

Blair: I've been working thru a 5 yr old tin of Dunhill Durbar. Most excellent !!
  7. Yea Yea Yea, Hook me, HOOK ME!

    How to smoke a hookah.

    http://www.saharasmoke.com/store/tips&tricks.htm

The Aluminum foil is very imprtant!

That is how I roll, I don't have one at home, the one I got in Iraq was left behind...........Too many war wounds on her. :rofl
  8. If I would smoke Id either smoke pipe or quality cigars....I don't however. I have to say though that although I HATEHATEHATE!!!! cigarette smoke I don't mind and (depending on the tabacco) sometimes even like the smell of cigars...and I expect that pipes are the same that way.

Too bad I'm a mormon though.....otherwise I might give it a try:rolleyes005 same for alcohol...if I'be drinking I'd most likely have quality scotch or something similar (I have a nice bottle of Whiskey on the shelf that will never be drunk (I like the colour of it and it was a gift from someone in Scotland that worked at Johnny Walker's).
  9. Anybody have some pix of their favorite pipe(s)?
.....posting this to remind me to share some photos.
  10. here I am :D
personally, I regard myself as a non-smoker - meaning I don't smoke cigarettes and I don't smoke in general. I do enjoy a good cigar or some great pipe-weed every now and then, but mainly in the summer when I can smoke outside in the evening.

Pipe-wise I have a very basic German Vauen-model and one from Jean Claude. I smoke Dunhill's Nightcap, the "Avalon" mixture, the "Vanilla Cream" from Mac Baren and some homemade blends from a local Bavarian tobacconist.
  11. Mac Baren Golden Extra, a favorite.
Two older Comoys, one of which was made by Comoy for another maker and re-branded. As common in pipes as brushes.
Would like to be able to afford a Dunhill, but I don't smoke a pipe enough to justify the cost.
  12. I have some Persian friends who are bringing me back a nice little hookah with about a lifetimes worth of that awesome sweet tobacco after summer break.... (green apple and/or lemon being my favorites)....

Every time we party, that bubbly bad boy starts gurgling away... Hookah is great for the once a month warrior ... a cheap AD if there was one...hookahs on ebay are going as little as $25 bucks.... Not sure what the tobacco runs (or the weird regulations on eBay about it), but it can be had in any Middle eastern shop I'll bet for about 5-8 bucks. We use about 1/8 a brick and it is good for 6 people for about a solid hour ..... Nice cool smoke, smells good....

I do love a good cigar, but as a starving student, it just does not compute financially to start stocking my humidor again. I sure do love a la gloria cubana box press every once in a while.....

I had a couple of pipes and some nice English and Virginian tobacco, but I just couldn't get the learning curve down, and gave it up. Still, I love looking at those briar pipes. An amazing blend of nature and craftsmanship.

For me, tobacco has always been a once in a blue moon indulgence. My family on my mother's side almost all smoke daily (cigarettes). I am fortunate to never be addicted.
