1. After my last two PIFs, I have substantially reduced my soap inventory.

    On hand and in rotation:

2 hard soaps - Tabac, MWF
2 sticks - Tabac, Irich Moos
3 creams - DR Harris Almond, TOBS Avocado, Proraso Blue
7 soft soaps - Tcheon Fung Sing Bergamotto Neroli (Italy), Saponificio Varesino Felce and Dolomiti (Italy), Krampert's Acadian Spice Bay Rum (US), and Jabonman (Rose, Eastern Breeze, Pepperilla (Spain)

I wanted to pare down the soft soaps to 3 or 4 but these are all top-of-the-line soaps with unique scents and great performance.

This may be too many, but it is nice to have a number of hard/soft/cream from which to choose....especially with the varied scents and textures. I keep a hard, a soft, and a cream on the counter and rotate out every week. Sure makes choices simple. :)
  2. Nice selection. Im afraid to update my soap inventory as it might be the first step in admitting a problem.
  3. Ed, are the Saponificio soaps good? You don't see them much here, I've wanted to try one of the soaps for some time now just not sure which scent?

  4. They are excellent. Mild but distinct scents. Easy to lather. Slick. I prefer the Dolomiti over the Fern. I could never be able to suggest a similar scent but they are wonderful for me. These are two with which I cannot part. (However, I did send a sample in my last PIF.)

  5. Thats a nice variety in soaps and creams. you can always sent that kramperts bay rum to me HEHE.

Im kidding of course, I like that you have very different scents.

  6. Yes....the Krampert's Bay Rum is a very, very nice soap all around (scent, performance, etc.)
  7. Hey, didn't you use to have a different username? =P
  8. Good for you, Ed. That is a nice plan. I enjoy variety myself.

  9. When someone pares down a shaving soap inventory to a paltry 14 soaps speaks volumes to the kind of trouble we all can get into when it comes to acquiring surplus shaving gear....;)
  10. I guess I "only" have 13 ;-)

5 Soaps: VDH Select, Razorock For Chicago, DR Harris Marlborough, Mikes Natural Bay Rum, L'Occitane Cade, MdC
2 Sticks: DR Harris Windsor, Wilkinson Sword
6 Creams: Proraso Green, Nivea Sensitive, Body Shop Maca Root, Pacific Shaving Co Caffeinated Cream, Cremo, Taconic Tequila Lime

  11. Thanks for the descriptions of these soaps. I have been curious about these soaps so it's nice to finally hear some details about them.
Also you have a nice selection of soaps

  12. It isn't a problem. It's an opportunity waiting to reveal itself. Either the opportunity to reduce stock to demonstrate you have no problem, or the opportunity to add more because you have no problem. Make sense?
  13. I just used the Saponificio Dolomiti. It's a very good performing soap ,, not a lot of scent , but really lathers up and lots of glide. Tc

  14. I've also been "paring down". More like figuring out what works for me and selling/trading.

  15. I have been trying to do this as of late. Trading and pifing. Sadly I'm down to about 70 soaps and 50-60 aftershaves. It's pretty bad.
  16. VDH

  18. I remember when I only had five or six soaps in my den. Now I can just about open a store of my own!
  19. I believe we can all say that we appreciate how candid folks have been. I truly do not want to acquire additional soaps and it has been hard to let go of the soaps I PIF'd. The least liked soap left in my inventory is a tube of Proraso Blue. I want a nice Rose Cream; think I will wait until I have enough posts to trade and see if I can swap the Blue for a Rose. From now, it is a 1-for-1 swap...no new purchases. :(:)
