Vintage shaving brush?

    Hi all,

I just ordered a vintage 1962 (my birth year) Gillette 3 piece razor and vintage Made Rite shave brush off everyone's favorite auction site. Obviously I was more interested in the razor however the auction was for both items together. I already have a brand new brush. I was wondering is it worth keeping the brush? Should I just throw it away or can it be used with proper cleaning?

All comments or advice is welcome! Thanks!

Pic? Condition? I have brushes bought used and cleaned to use. Personal preference but wouldn't throw away. Can always re-knot it too.

Thanks for the reply. Here is a pic from the seller. What do you think?

I think it's spent some time bristles down in a shaving mug. It probably could be salvaged with a good wash and a brush net to re-form the shape. Not sure it's worth the effort.

The old badgers tend to be high lofted, which makes them floppy, imo. On the other hand, vintage badger hair tends to be better quality than modern hair...

    Up to you.

The handle looks pretty good. I'd suggest a re-knot.

Thanks however I think I will just keep it as a collectable. Like I mention in the original post it was purchased along with a 1962 Gillette Tech 3 piece razor which is what I really want. :)
