It’s a good soap. It was made by WSP for Bullgoose Shaving. They make a great lather that provides excellent cushion and slickness galore with awesome residual slickness as well. They are made via “hot process” if I’m not mistaken and last forever getting about a 100 shaves or maybe a bit more from a 4.7oz. tin. I’m a big fan of WSP soaps and these are identical in performance. Is Grooming Dept. better? Yes & no. If I were to consider the shave soap as a whole from first lather, shave, comfort, protection, slickness and post shave, I’d give the edge to GD. And only because of GD’s post shave prowess does the Asylum/WSP offering fall just a bit short. In everything else, it’s the equal to GD if not better plus it was cheaper and lasted waaaaayyy longer than Grooming Dept. soaps. If I can get 35 shaves from a GD soap, I’d consider that a win. The Asylum/WSP outguns it in longevity by a country mile. If I didn’t care about post shave so much or had never had the desire to try a GD soap or any other soap for that matter, I’d have been completely satisfied with the Asylum/WSP offerings. But, I’m a soap tramp and I love to try quality soaps.....
