super cheap, simple and tasty sidedish

    1 can chili beans (your choice of spice level, I use the mildest)
    2 cans of butter beans

    Simmer as usual. Add sausage, bacon, etc. Aaaaand...that's it. I threw this together and was surprised how well the flavors meshed after cooking and sitting for a few hours.

    I've done something very similar, but added sauteed onions and a can of chopped jalapenos. :drool: :eatdrink020:

    The onions I need to try!

    Found a kielbasa in the freezer. chopped and added.

    You're right, that's all I had for lunch. Quite good. Stirred in a can of green beans with an hour to go. Cottage cheese on the side would go well.

    Well now it sounds like a mulligan stew! When I lived in Nebraska, we would have parties where everyone brought a can of something and dumped it in a big pot on their way to the beer cooler.
