Next to my Simpsons Colonel for scale: On it's tod: Hand carved using just a saw, an axe and a very sharp knife from age darkened, Scottish Beech wood. No sandpaper to finish, just 'off the knife' then oiled and waxed to protect it. It has a 26mm TGN Grade A Silvertip fitted and will be used by SWMBO after I've broken it in. Hope you like it.....
That is pretty incredible. When I carve wood with a knife it generally looks like a stick with knife marks.
VERY impressive ability and BEAUTIFUL work!!..I'm jealous, whenever I carve a piece wood it comes out looking like a toothpick.... Well at least I'm consistant, if not talented....
The shape of the new brush reminds me of Jessica Rabbit (cartoon)-- all curvy in a long evening gown ...I always love seeing the grain & figures in wood. It's like there's a little party going on in there.
You're all too kind. Just a fella messing around with sharp things, trying not to cut himself. Plain grain or all mixed up - wood is good.
As I have said before, there is more than one way to produce a quality handle and this one is a very nice example. Excellent work Graeme!
