Hi everyone. Wanted to give the Omega boars another shot, so today I "upgraded" a cheap Omega 10066. I removed the knot and turned a nice handle from a piece of Afzelia wood: The 10049 brushes are a bit too big for my taste - but I might like this smaller knot.
Very nice work. I like the pattern of the wood. If you do not like the black sleeves or want to change the loft, the knots come out super easily with just a vertical cut.
For me, the best off the shelf Omega is the 20102. Loft is just about perfect, the bottom section is well turned solid Beech and whilst the black part is ABS plastic, the chrome ring around the top is metal not chromoplastic or the like. It looks so much better with the sticker though! Here's an Omega boar knot I carved a handle for after removing the knot like @PanChango said:
Thank you for the information. I have one more Omega knot left and I might try that. Though I think the black sleeve does look nice in combination with a wooden handle.
