Hi! I was wondering about a good women’s razor for my wife. It would be nice to cut her shaving cost down like mine. She uses one of the men’s cart razor with 3 or 4 blades. She tells me that the men’s razors are better than women’s for her. I assume a safety razor with a long handle would do but I am not sure. Can someone give a few suggestions? I’m thinking brand new for her I’m not too sure if she has a liking towards classic or vintage items. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First off, talk to her about what she likes. For vintage, look at the Lady Gillette or a Super Adjustable 109. For new, I would suggest a Maggard starter kit for women. Lots of handle & head choices there.
Here's a nice long handled Edwin Jagger they shave great! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C6BRF3A/?tag=thshde-20 And heres a Lady's Gillette I gave my daughter in-law I think a Schick Krona would also work nice with its longer handle, but my vote would be on the Edwin Jagger!
If you’re considering an injector razor, there’s the lady Schick/eversharp or a Schick J model with that long handle.
I would suggest you let her try yours first. If she seems she likes it then get her own. I believe she will like a longer handle. If you are looking for a used one let me know I have a couple options that may work.
I have a Gillette slim adjustable she can use. It’s a longer handle than my fat adjustable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My wife tried a Lady Gillette and it wasn't right for her. Then she tried a Lady Schick and she's still using it.
I told her she has to learn to use it. She said nope . Lol. Thanks for the info though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wait a few days, and mention to her that it's really gentle once you get it. Have her watch you use it, talk to her about the angle as you shave the flats of the cheek and jaw. Then.... Let her try yours. Let her use whatever pink canned lather she currently uses. Soap is not a big factor, if she likes her lather, I say leave that alone. Also, don't overload her with choices. There really isn't as much variance in DE razor performance as people think, however, an adjustable like a Black Beauty covers the geometry range pretty well. Ni need to acquire 73 more razors for her to try. She is not going to make this her hobby, but with careful thought, you can probably at least get her to see why you like it.
