I've seen these for years, and I have most other kinds of razors, so when I saw this while browsing through safety razors on eBay, I made my bid. I was the first of two to bid on it and got it for $27 including shipping. I understand the heads are great shavers. The vibrating mechanism is interesting, but I doubt I will use it more than once. It should arrive Monday. I will follow up of course.
As the razor was designed for use with a heavy handle not surprisingly it does seem to benefit from same. Just not as wacky as stock. Barbaros handle again.
The Stahly is a good and unique razor, but they have disappointed me. I've bought 2 of them, and within several weeks of usage both mechanism froze up on me. The heads are marvelous shavers, though. I've trashed the Stahly handles and have installed the heads of regular handles. The heads are heavy, cumbersome, and tiring to my 82 year old hand, if used without the vibrating motors.
I don't know anyone who uses the wacky handle. It distracts from the great shave the head is capable of using a non ridiculous but weighty substitute.
Yep, the Stahly head is a nice shave. The handle, if it vibrates, is fun for a laugh. At a party you can always wind it up, set it on the counter and make your friends chuckle. Herm
I have one and it works like brand new. But it sits on the shelf because it's to awkward to use. At least for me it is. But the head on a different handle is a great shaver. Find the handle that suits you and enjoy
Had my first shave with the Stahly today. Menthol Monday's Shave Cold Water Wash C.O. Bigelow Jayaruh #30 Stahly Live Blade (First Shave) Gillette Silver Blue CWR Osage Rub
Nice razor. These have always intriged me. Does the guide bars rotate? They look like a piece of rod that would rotate and roll across your face.
Imagine what it would cost to design, develop and manufactor that today. How do you change the oil in that gear box? Those planetary sets will need some fresh oil.
