This thread is going to build up to five Sheffielders over the next few days, all these will be heading home to my good friend Alan... Number 1 is a Full Vintage Restore Wade & Butcher For Barber's Use 7/8 The razor was completely broken down, and polished to a near perfect mirror finish, the old Buffalo Horn scales were also polished out again... All new hardware to put it back together using Tri-Metal bullseye stacks... the original lead wedge was polished and sanded to fit...
Second of the Five,,, Joseph Elliot 7/8+ Full Custom Restore on this one, using what I think are some of the most beautiful Honey Horn blanks that have crossed my bench from Masecraft...I used the 3M Tri-m-ite sandpaper to polish the horn, the Lead wedge is from a set of Vintage scalesPins are Nickel Silver and I used stacked SS washers to hold it all together with new Brass bearing washers inside....
Third of Five,, Frederick Reynolds 7/8 Another Vintage restore I actually kinda remembered to take before pics I started on one of the scales then went back and got the camera to take the pics ... Before : I polished out the horn scales using the 3M-tri-mite paper the MOP cleaned up with some very gentle polishing starting at 4k... I did a full polish on the steel which I was very happy that all the pitting and rust came off of... Used the Tri-Metal washers and pins and new Brass bearing washers... The wedge needed a tiny bit of fitting adjustment and some polishing but other then that she went back together very well... After:
Four of Five.. This is the Fourth razor of this series a R.Sutcliffe 15/16 hollow grind Fully restored in Tortoise Acrylic scales with a Honey Horn wedge.. The hardware is Tri-metal stacked washers and pins... I again used the 3M Tri-m-ite "Imperial" sandpaper to polish this acrylic out
Nice, that reynolds is one big blade i like the before pics (I know what you mean I restored a 1918 singer sewing machine and the table looks stunning now but forgot the before pics, it was poor con when I got it dohh)
Five of Five... Last but not least a beautiful double notch Hawcroft & Pearson 7/8 done in Amboyna Burl using a CA finish... I used all Brass hardware and a Bronze & Gold acrylic wedge... The steel was polished lightly to a Satin finish All five razors were honed out using the Norton 1-4-8 and finished on my Select Grade Coticule followed by 10 laps on a 24 in Leather Bench strop w/CeOx... 50/100 linen and leather after that...(for those interested)
Just something about wooden scales that I really like. Beautiful work as always, Glen. Very nice job.
Very shiny, very awesome! I think I'll eventually want to try a straight razor. They really are works of art.
They should come back up as soon as SRP does, I am assuming this of course... I have found it much easier to copy and paste the pics from there rather then try and load them twice... Yes I am lazy and kinda dumb when it comes to computer stuff It looks like the server that SRP uses is down right at the moment.so I am guessing that is why some of you can't see them I however can still see them.. odd.. Oh well I never claimed computer prowess
