I'm sorry but can't hear anything over all these excuses :p

Thanks Darkbulb for posting. It didn't work for me.
We're planning to have a choice of 15 grip designs by the end of the Kickstarter for backers to choose from. Grips are interchangeable so you can switch up the look when you get tired of it.

If you would have to pick THE best feature of your razor (only one) that doesn't exist on any other razor...what would it be?

Can't say flashlight or vibration...those have already been done.

Very true. Stahly (amongst others) for the vibration...and there were a couple of flashlight ones way back when. 20's-30's? Can't remember any of the brands but I think @mrchick have one?

It's hard to give you just one, but basically the most unique feature is customizability: the ability to change grips to customize the look of the razor today and in the future, the ability to switch the head of the razor to a safety razor or cartridge razor, the ability to adjust vibration and LED output. Your razor can be completely different from anyone else's.

I do not. I posted a picture from Waits a while back in response to a question about them. I've yet to see one myself.

So far the only thing that perks my interest is the adjustable vibration. Have you tried it with a DE (safety) razor head? And if so, did it improve the shave, and can you describe in what way it improved the shave?

Edit: Also, what country are these razors being made in?

My question would be whether the handle uses the common threading to attach the head. In other words, could one use a Phi handle with, say, an EJ head? If so, the next question would be whether the handle could be purchased separately?

PLANofMAN: We have used the PHI Razor™ with vibration and the DE razor head. First I should say that we did not use a generically cast, off the shelf DE head. We redesigned and machined our own head. We describe the shave as close and smooth, not aggressive. A very technical shave. With the vibration on it takes the shave to another level. My partner describes it at the difference between a manual steering and a power assisted steering. It just floats effortlessly across your face.

John Ruschmeyer: The handle does not use any threads. It uses the PHI Click™ system which is a patent pending quick change design. It only accepts our DE and cartridge head adaptors.

I'd assumed you were using the generic Chinese screw on heads you see scattered across eBay with nicely turned hobby style wooden handles.
I'm glad to see that this is not the case.

Now, the question is, is the head made of aluminum...and where is the titanium in this design?

The models we have posted are all aluminium. Head, chassis, end caps and grips in non-early bird levels. We have a separate limited edition titanium model that is completely titanium. Due to the high cost of titanium we were not able to offer it as a base model.

Glad to see some DE innovation to keep the format alive but I have to admit that I feel no urge to buy one of these, (and I have terminal RAD).

When you posted it on Facebook as having "an aluminum and titanium chassis" I assumed that both were being incorporated into a single razor design. What are the early bird models going to be made from if not aluminum?

The early bird models are made from aluminium, (heads, chassis and end caps) but the grips are acrylic resin. That allowed us to have a $99 USD entry for the early bird tiers. They can still upgrade to aluminium if desired.
All non-early bird tiers are all aluminium. It will make more sense when the Kickstarter is live.

    Hello all,
Just a heads up. Our Kickstarter is now live.

Funny, but the proprietary head system is actually putting me off a bit. While I'm glad to see that effort was put into engineering an artisan DE head, I think I had visions of being able to take the handle and upgrade the intelligence of my older, "dumb" razors.

Looking at the Kickstarter page, I see that my assumptions about the controller in the handle were somewhat correct. With all the gesture-based configuration and the LED, I'm having visions of waving around the razor like a lightsaber.

Overall, I'm sure it will appeal to a lot of people and be fully funded, but it's just not doing it for me. Sorry.

    No problem John,
We wanted to make a razor that would appeal to both sides of the fence; cartridge and DE. Possibly get more of the cartridge guys to try the DE head.
No offence meant with the 'dumb' razor comment; it is meant to imply that there is a lack of smart electronics.
Once the razor is set how you like it, it's basically 2 shakes on and 2 shakes off.
I appreciate the honesty and the comments.

Yes it is waterproof. I just added that to the FAQ on the Kickstarter.
