Thank you and outdoor photos are the best and most challenging way to take pics, in my opinion. Thank you for your kind words, Andrew.
2/24 Schick Stick / Schmuck (1) Zoe's Wild Wild West VDH Luxury Boar Gillette Fusion ASB Mennen Skin Bracer My first shave with the Stick was excellent. A new Chick blade was smooth and sharp leaving me BBS and dolphin smooth. While the Zoe's Wild Wild West soap provides good slickness and cushion, I can't get a handle on the scent. It is not that I can not describe it, I do not like it. I got this soap in a PIF and I will be putting it into a PIF of my own.
SOTD 2/23/16 Prep: Hot Shower/ Dove Men's Face Scrub Pre-Shave: PAA Ice Soap: PAA CAD Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm Silvertip Razor/ Blade: Merkur 1906/ Voskhod (3) Astringent: Witch Hazel Post-Shave: Nivea Sensitive Cooling Balm Aftershave: Fine American Blend Beautiful shave last night. Went with a classic barbershop and the CAD and American Blend match almost perfectly. Beautiful lather and slickness, as well having a fantastic post-shave. You may hate the guy, but got to give him props for making a great soap. Love the smoothness of the 1906 and a voskhod blade and I'm feeling and smelling great. Happy Wednesday! Also, ordered my first order of Stirling, so should be here soon!
Razor: Gillette Goodwill #164 1931 (slotted center hole) with original case and blade pack Brush: Maggard Synthetic 24/57 2016 Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: The Body Shop Maca Root cream Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Cerruti 1881 Loaded the Feather and checked the alignment. From the side it looks a lot like my Gillette Old Type Open Comb Ball End, but shaves like my Tech. I whipped up the Maca Root with the Maggard Synthetic in my favorite mug. First pass WTG very nice glide with no pressure with this light razor. Second pass XTG on my face and then ATG on my neck. The Maca Root was nice and slick and helped get a great shave. A little touchup on my neck, and done. Great razor! Very smooth. The WH felt good and then some JB. And then some Cerruti 1881. Y'all have a good one!
For Wednesday's Finest, it will be: TOBS Sandalwood shaving soap in a wooden bowl, Fendrihan Ebony handle badger brush, Merkur 39c slant bar razor w/Astra SP blade, Sul Filo del Rasoio aftershave balm.
SOTD Merkur 39c "Sledgehammer" Another awesome shave with the 39c. Day four with the Astra SP blade and I still chalked up another BBS. I said it before, this has got to be one of the smoothest razors I've ever used. I think it would be difficult to nick yourself even if you tried. This isn't a sledgehammer, its a jeweler's tool. It looks like there's a massive amount of blade exposure, but looks are deceiving. The twisted head geometry creates a flat spot to place against your skin that puts the blade in the perfect position. (Sorry pic is upside-down, can't seem to fix it. Just flip over your computer monitor or stand on your head.)
