Today was a day of BIG discovery!
I have been saying, that the biggest trial of an injector is to put it against the Ever Ready 1914 or 1925 whichever is your favorite. Finally today I woke up missing my "Little Lather Catcher"....Soooo
I cleaned up my favorite SE, and started my HOT water whisker rinse, when I thought.....I have never actually tried the
'Hill-Fergie' Shim'....Sooo
I made mine, and put the recommended 1/2 shim underneath the spine of the GEM Stainless blase...I crimped a perfect small edge at the top of the shim, so the blade would just slide up and fit the shim snug. So I slide the blade and shim with my thumb, down til the blade edge locks behind the blade stops. I hold the edge behind the stops with the thump of my left hand while I snap the 'Bear-Trap' blade cover shut....
Face lathered a perfect Arko Santa's beard of lather....and ahhhh.....I've never gotten a better shave with any razor....
The ER 1914 without the shim, and my Schick E2, and G8 will all shave this close if I do my part....But not this smooth and effortless....Whew!.....Like Heaven!
@
Billyfergie is really onto something with the
HillFergie Shim.....If you haven't check it out yet...You owe it to yourself to try it.....I think the ER1914 is a perfect razor just with the modern GEM SE blades, but even smooth, smooth, smoother with Billy's shim....afterwards the non-shim blade seems a tad harsh....}8^)) Welldone BF...
