SOTD 2/24/16 Prep: Hot Shower/ Dove Men's Face Wash Pre-Shave: Proraso White Cream Soap: Catie's Bubble La Terra Verte Brush: Vie Long Horse/ Badger Mix Razor/ Blade: Gillette Flair Tip Super Speed/ Personna Platinum Red (1) Astringent: Witch Hazel Post-Shave: SC Integrity Balm Aftershave: Captain's Choice Sandalwood Very nice shave last night. Catie's Bubbles never lets me down. The lather is good and post-shave is great. I enjoy this Vie Long brush a lot too. Would I replace it for my other brushes, no, but it is a nice addition to my den. Feeling very good today and having some warmer weather. The LTV is a very nice scent, masculine and not being too green. I originally thought it was going to be a fougere, but it isn't. I really enjoy Captain's choice Sandalwood too. Has a sandalwood cologne scent, plus a bay rum background and it is really nice. Have a nice day everyone!
Feb. 25/2016 Razor: Gillette Tech (Jason). Blade Rapira Platinum Lux(4) Brush: Omega Syn. Cream: Proaso White Tube. Oil: Homemade (orange scent). Bowl: Soup Bowl from Kitchen. As: Nivea balm. The lather was superb, slick and smooth. 1st. pass, WTG. 2nd pass, ATG/XTG, then small amount of clean up. Voila ! Guess what...... yep, I`m feeling my face as we speak. I haven`t felt a BB in a long time, butt there is a definite comparison. How often can one feel elated over a simple morning shave? I really love this razor!!! Thanks Jason. BTW, this is the first razor I can remember, where I get every single hair from under my nose. Bill
Razor: Gillette 85 Super Adjustable "Black Beauty” (p2) 1970 named “The Black Pearl” Brush: Badassshaving Flaming Birch Black Badger 24/55 Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: TOBS Grapefruit cream Blade: Feather (2) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera, Jack Black balm, Halston Z-14 cologne Whipped up the TOBS in a minute with the Badger. Nice slick cushion and I really like the scent. The heavy head on the "Pearl" gave me a nice smooth shave with no pressure with a Feather blade set on 5, WTG and XTG on my face and neck. Then ATG set on 3. Very smooth. The Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera felt good on my face and that natural scent was nice and fresh. After cleanup, I smoothed on some Jack Black, and then some Halston Z-14 cologne Y'all have a good one
Thursday: hot shower w/Castelbel Grapefruit Mandarin bar soap Maggard Grapefruit PSO Schick Krona 3 passes Super Max SP Tiger (1) Surrey boar TOBS Grapefruit cream in a warm bowl Thayers Peach WH TSD Tropical Verbena A/S John Varvatos Artisan edt Very nice shave this morning. Grapefruit is always a good eye opener for me. I didn't have time today but I'm looking forward to Sunday's shave when I'll take the Bunny out for the second time.
NOTE: Gentlemen, in my post earlier, i compared my face to a BB. Let`s face it, there is no way on God`s green earth that the cheeks on this 80 yr. old face can compare to the cheeks on a 6-8 mo. baby`s cheeks. I was merely trying to describe the BBs Shave I got. Just bear with me. Thanks. Bill
C.O.Bigelow & Vulfix 660S Medium Rapira SSS (4th) & Gillette 195 E4 @ 5 Alum block & Canoe AS and Cologne Nothing new for todays soft or hardware. A close comfortable shave with nary a nick and no irritation. I think tomorrow I'll unwrap a fresh blade and do a side by side comparison of my other Fat Boy. Both are '59's. My old friend is a 4th quarter, the one to compare a 1st quarter. My brother has a birthday coming up. If they shave the same, he'll get the younger razor because I'm the big brother. Otherwise I'm keeping the good one.
