Been there, done that. I would imagine the blade was partially at fault due to number of shaves. But, sometimes I just have an off day. Tomorrow is a new day....and a new blade.
6/8 Wacker Inox C&S Oxford and Cambridge Thater knot/ homemade handle Knee replacement surgery went good but I blew out some stitches yesterday during PT so I'm flat on my back for the next 4 days. This is from Wed. shave. I'll post another pic of today's shave later. Have a good one.
I should have mentioned this. A lot of people just mash the Arko into a shallow bowl or mug and load it into the brush from there.
Friday Prep: Warm Shower-Stirling Bath Soap-Gatlinburg Soap: Martin de Candre-Fougere Razor: Gillette Slim Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Plus (18) Brush: Thater Silvertip-26mmx55mm Aftershave: Tuscan Oud WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard) MdC today. 20 seconds to load the Thater Silvertip. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Personna 74 still cruising along. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Tuscan Oud. Bob
Feb. 26/2016 Razor: Gillette Tech Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux(5) Brush: VDH Badger Soap: Italian Barber Primavera Oil: Homemade AS: Nivea Balm 1st. pass, WTG, 2nd pass. ATG/XTG, clean up as the lather left my face a little slick (Proaso is slicker) but Italian Barber is pretty good. On this particular shave, the Rapira irritated a couple of areas, but not bad. The AS balm took care of that. All in all, I guess maybe a DFS+. I`m satisfied and as always, I enjoyed some time well spent. Bill
Andrew-I was lucky enough to locate 60 in four 15 count dispensers at a reasonable price. These are truly amazing!
There are certainly more impressive SOTD gear out there, but I appreciate your recognition. The SS with a 5/day old Med Prep made short work out of my stubble. I am always amazed at the quality of the vintage Gillettes. The CH2 is, and I know that I have said it before, like rubbing a little bunny rabbit over my face.
Can't speak for the brush but I believe you. I whole heartedly agree about the old Gillette's, not only are they beautiful but finely made razors providing outstanding shaves.
Razor: Gillette Goodwill #162 1934 (4 corner positioning posts) Brush: Jerusalem Olive Wood/WD Silvertip 24/48 by ObiDon 2015 Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: Truefitt&Hill Grafton Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Vintage Avon 1981 California Perfume and Co. Anniversary Bay Rum The Goodwill shaves me like my LC and like the LC you have to watch the angles, for a smooth shave. Loaded a Feather blade, and checked the alignment. The Silvertip is one of my favorite, because it is both very soft and has great backbone. It whipped up a nice lather in no time. Got a nice two pass shave with some touchup on my trouble spot on my neck, but not too much, as I will pay later. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup and a shower, some JB balm. Finished up with some Vintage Avon 1981 California Perfume and Co. Anniversary Bay Rum , Makes me want to Dance!
Primo. I love you, finally someone noticed............. refrigerator magnet to help me pick up sharps when my hands begin to shake. Thank you for asking, now I don`t have to show it.(justa game) OK? Levity is the spice of life. Bill
