Agree a Slim will give you a chance to run the aggressiveness dial. A Red Tip another good choice. An R41 is a whole lot, not little, aggressive. If you want vintage aggressive jump on a Old Type.
I found out red tip through the WTB section. I also have a slim adjustable, which is the great razor. I find myself reaching for the red tip most of the time.
Red Tip is the best Super Speed. It is my favorite non-adjustable TTO. A great blend of aggressiveness and smoothness. I believe that's called efficiency.
I'm having a hard time with my red tip. Can't quite get a good shave out of it with either an Astra sp or personna
Almost second that on the Gillette Aristocrat US Made...but I was just reading about British Aristocrats, and I'm a little confused as to how many their were... and which would be the one considering their price. I currently have my dad's old Aristocrat about to go out for re-plating. Thinking about a Brit made one, but have no idea how to begin.
I'm on day seven with the same Astra SP blade in my '56 Red Tip Heavy. So far I have not had a better shaving experience. To each their own, as they say here YMMV, but that Red Tip is one amazing razor. I also use a Rocket HD on a regular rotation with it... and it always steals my heart, until I use the Red Tip... it's a terrible problem...Just be patient with that Red Tip... or it just may be too aggressive for you... switch to a 40's SS... they give great mild shaves.
Just to follow up, I cannot get a comfortable, non-irritating shave with a regular Super Speed. The Red Tip is good, the regular, terrible for me.
Phil, I have a Gillette Aristocrat Junior #49 British made, I'm not sure how or why it got the Aristocrat label because it looks nothing like the American version, but I will say it's made like no other Gillette I have, solid, the TTO mechanism is smooth as silk.
