I'm looking to try a mentholated aftershave and I want the strongest/coldest I can get in a ready-made product (as apposed to adding M-Bomb to something). Hoping you guys can post your recommendations. Thanks!
Paging @crackstar Jeff will be able to recommend "the strongest/coldest I can get in a ready-made product". If any man has ever know the limits of menthol in shaving products it's him.
I have Fines Snakebite Aftershave, and together with Yeti Snot soap, they has brought tears to my eyes. Well, it brought tears, after I added about 9 menthol crystals to the aftershave.
The combination of Chiseled Face's Cryogen soap with the aftershave afterwards will have your eyes watering. At least it does mine.
+1 Stirling glacial. When I talked to rod, he said that there is a pound of menthol per batch. It was the coldest soap on the planet before cryogen. But ctyogen has so much menthol that it breaks down scent. His soaps are white-out Antarctic snowstorm cold with a crisp scent.
+1 I only use my cryogen if I am combining it with another soap (mainly Glacials) as just the Cryogen itself is not the best scent in the world.
As I've stated several times, the difference between the Cryogen and the Glacials is only slight. The Cryogen is a bit colder but not by an appreciable degree. Let's say if the Glacials are 9.7/10 in the menthol power, the Cryogen is 9.8/10. To me, the Glacials are still able to retain their beautiful scents, they lather much easier and better, and they provide really soothing skincare. As far as the coldest aftershave is concerned, nothing and I repeat NOTHING is as cold as Barrister & Mann's Arctique. This stuff comes with a warning because it's murderously-cold to the point where if you apply it too generously, you'll SUFFER.
Thanks to everyone for their replies and suggestions. I'm primarily looking for AS but the soap lists were interesting and I'll refer back to this thread if I ever decide to go for a cold soap. The B&M Arctique sounds like something I might want to try. Does anyone have a link to where I might find it? Not able to search at the moment. Thanks again!
Italian Barber in Canada carries it but it's out of stock right now because it's a seasonal item like the matching shaving soap. It should be back this spring and summer.
I guess I'll have to wait for it to warm up a bit before I can buy Arctique and freeze my face. However, thanks to all the suggestions I have a few to choose from. The info is much appreciated. Thanks!
The coldest I have is Barbasol Pacific Rush. Its chill lasts over 10 minutes. It's way colder than Floid Vigoroso, Fine Platinum & American Blend or Aqua Velva Ice Blue which are the only other menthol's I have...............
