03/06/2016 Gillette Red & Black New Deluxe Feather (2) Rudy Vey with Shavemac Finest TSD Yin Yang Witch Hazel Folsom & Co Shambala Whipped Shea Butter A very relaxing Sunday morning shave. The TSD Yin Yang scent of lavender and citrus was a nice addition. As time goes on I am finding myself drawn to these types of scents. Since I had the time I went with a traditional 3 pass shave. After touch ups along my jaw line and neck I ended with a near BBS shave. There is one spot on my lower neck that is very hard to get perfect. Finished up with a splash of F&C Shambala. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Straights Focus March 6: Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lanolin Iced Sub-zero W&B Congress Razor Stirling Unscented PSB -- Mentholated The Veg I managed to get up before everyone else this morning, so I went for a full two pass shave. After a nice Baseball pattern lather and shave on the second pass, I was easily a DFS+. I went ahead and worked on a little clean up under my chin and on my jaw in a few spots, and I ended with a BBS. My son loves to have my wife compare who is smoother now, and according to her it is a tie, so I am pleased. The Veg has become a favorite of the kids, so I applied some, and I am now ready for a great church service and great day. Hope everyone has the same.

Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso MdC. Is it worth the price? IMHO. Yes. I've had this jar for a year and a half and it's over half way full, fantastic lather, fantastic everything. The BB is really a great razor. This Maggard brush is excellent, soft, backbone, great value. Floid Vigoroso. Good stuff. Never let the things you WANT Make you forget the things you HAVE

3/6/16 Gillette Birth Quarter Tech (Y3) Gillette Platinum Plus (3) Vulfix Super Badger (660) Mitchell's Wool Fat Georgetown G12 Scuttle Pinaud Clubman Original Day three with the Gillette Platinum Plus in my Birth Quarter Tech. This is a Brazilian blade I found at the local Walgreens. Typical 2 passes with touch up. I had good reduction on my passes but the normal amount of stubble remained in my trouble spots. Had a difficult time eliminating all of that stubble. I ended up stretching a bit more and going over a couple of spots several times. While the blade felt smooth and comfortable it just couldn't seem to handle some of my trouble spots. In some areas, if I stretch the skin, the stubble disappears. Instead I need to bend down until the skin is looser for it to become apparent. Shaving them in that position usually takes care of things, although sometimes I have to do it a couple of times. Today, they just wouldn't go away until I added more pressure than I wanted. Not surprisingly, the Clubman stung like fire. A near BBS today. Two hours after my shave, everything feels smooth, unless I put my chin to my chest and hunt. Then, I can feel just a hint of stubble in one spot on my neck. So, how did the Gillette Platinum Plus do? The first shave was an easy long lasting BBS. The second was tainted by poor lather and so needed more effort to achieve the BBS. And today, I just missed the BBS. I think the blade is capable of 3 BBS shaves in the Tech, but I'd need to work hard to get it three times running. So, while I like the blade, it isn't as effective as the Rapira Super Stainless. Tomorrow, I'll bring out the Wilkinson Sword for 3 shaves. After that, I will wrap up the Tech with a Feather blade. I hope everyone has a blessed Lords' Day.
Thank you Chris. This thread has been a huge help to me. I also got to meet some great people. Thank you for leading it.

ShaveSecret PS oil & Arko Omega Pro 98 & suribachi bowl Germania Cutl. Pathfinder 6/8 Alum block & Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Still not sure if preshave oil helps, but the bay rum scent has become familiar. Rubbed the stick on the textured surface of this ceramic bowl for plenty lather whipped up by a well broken in boar. My straight is feeling more natural having been using them more often. Kicked off the training wheels and chose not to do a DE clean-up. I'm not DFS, but SAS is acceptable. Cool rinse and a skin tightening all over swipe of alum block revealed not nicks. Finished with a splash of The Veg. It was so good, I'll go back for another handful in a minute.
March 6 - Straight Shave 8 Henckels Twin Works #50 PSO, hot shower Omega 10066 Boar Shaving Brush Reef Point Dragon's Blood Soap & AS Alum, Nivea balm Wow, great shave today, DFS! Close to BBS, but didn't do as good trimming around the goatee. I admit to chasing a bit, and the Alum told me all about it. Still not bad razor burn or anything, but I pushed it a little more that I would on a work day. Had a pretty good shave yesterday, but didn't get to post it. My buddy and I got shop access to put his track suspension on his Firebird. Working on a lift with quality air tools is just huge! Tried to get it wrapped up yesterday, got a whole lot done in 10 hours, but still have a couple hours today. Would have taken several weekends to do all this in a home garage. My next house has to have a workshop, and I am putting in a lift. So much easier! Hope everyone has a great day, off to get dirty..
SOTD March 6, 2016 March focus shave 5 Shave Den Sunday! Prep: Warm shower, Dove Men+Care face scrub Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G1 Injector (late 1940s) Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic Lather: TSD Lanolin Bay Rum Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Bay Rum after shave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG, touch-up Several things went on in this shave as I experimented a little bit and took my time since I wasn't rushed like I am on a weekday. I loaded a new Chick blade into the injector. That didn't go quite as planned and had to figure out the loader, but I got it to go in correctly after a little finagling. That was my first time loading a new blade as my Injector experience isn't so deep. But the new blade was nice and sharp and very efficient. I tried a cold water shave again today, the first time in a couple of months. The last cold water shave was frustrating because I couldn't get the soap to come off of the razor as I swished in the sink between strokes. But today's weather here is nice and warm and I decided to give it another try. Verdict.......I liked it!! My face feels great and the tender areas that can sometimes burn with after shave all feel pretty good. I'll have to try some more cold shaves to see if I'm a true convert. My initial lather with the Satin Tip brush was too wet. I face lathered but it was just too wet and runny. So I washed off that first application, rinsed out the brush, and started over. I got a much better lather the second time. I then went in and reloaded some soap before applying for the second pass. That lather was even better. I just started off with too much water, but it all worked out in the end. I am thankful for the self discipline to wash off that first lather and start over. The TSD Bay Rum soap and matching after shave are such quality products. I really enjoy using them. All in all this was a nice, close shave. Two passes with touch-up and I would classify it as DFS. This was my best experience with the Schick injector to date. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
Sunday's Shave Cold water Pso-Homemade mint oil Razor-Gillette Flair Tip Super Speed Blade-Feather (4) Brush-Omega S Soap- Arko Thayers Witch Hazel ASB-Nivea Sensitive Another enjoyable shave tonight, I decided yesterday that I preferred a cold water shave and confirmed it tonight. It just feels better. I got one small nick around the corner of my mouth, alum to the rescue. This was caused by laziness, I had a heaping amount of lather in the bowl and instead of brushing some on I just made a quick pass to clean up. Lesson learned. Just 2 passes tonight, WTG and ATG for a DFS. Since I decided on the cold water I'm switching my focus. I have only ever face lathered so I broke out a bowl and went for it. I made 20 swirls on the soap, added a few drops of water to the bowl and went at it. I don't think I needed 20 swirls, I had a ton of lather. I don't know if this looks right but here is the brush after 45 seconds: After 2 passes I had enough that I could have made several more passes with what was left over. Can you just add the soap back to the container? It seemed a waste to wash it all down the drain. Have a wonderful evening folks.
That's awesome looking lather, I practically look for reasons to buy new soaps so I just wash it down the drain.
So glad to hear you're progressing along nicely! I too tried a cold shave today and enjoyed it. I don't bowl lather just for the sake of time. Going right to the face seems to save a step for me. But I will bowl lather when I use creams. I wouldn't try to add back in! These soaps last a looooonng time.
