Paul, thanks for the laugh!! Really nothing compares to Aqua Velver, Pitralon Polar is a Limey, sweet citrus scent. It's nice. But again. Nothing compares to an Aqua Velva Man.. Nothing.

I have the Musk-does that count for being an Aqua Velva Man? As for the Pitralon, sounds like a great one for summers, whether humid or dry.
March 7 Schick injector E5 / Dutch (1) T & H 1805 Vie-Long Horse hair and Badger Avon quadra FX ASB Gillette Cool Wave AS I started off with a Chick blade on its 8th use. It was rough and tugged quite a bit so I changed it out for the Dutch NOS blade. Smooth and sharp and the shave was excellent.

So, with a cold water shave do you still take steps to soften the hairs (shower or warm towel) ? I guess I don't completely understand the cold water shave process.

I don't have much experience with other lime creams and soaps. I have a sample of Geo. F. Trumper Limes which is very nice and Col. Conk Lime which is OK, but I enjoyed the OS Lime, too. My first experience with Lime was back in 1967.

I've just been doing everything that I normally do, but with cold water instead. My shower is warm to hot as normal, but once I'm ready to shave then the water to wet my face and to swish the razor in the sink is cold. All rinses between passes and the final rinse are with cold water. I think it helps with irritation for me. My face feels smoother and overall less irritated with cold water. There are some TSD folks who swear by and love cold water shaves and some others who have tried it and don't care for it. In the words of @swarden43 "it's your shave" so go with whatever you enjoy.
That make sense now. I've tried to shave without hydrating the whiskers and it was like trying to shave toothpics. I think if I did my normal hot shower and then shaved with cold water as you suggest it may work then.
