  2. Dang it man...you know about Dot as well?? She is in Texas and I'm always looking at her Etsy store.

No shaving "honey holes" are safe from you...lol.

Back to my local antique shops....
  3. Lol yeah it's always a good idea to keep an eye on Dorothy's site - she's always adding things and her prices are really, really good :)

  4. I keep trying to get her to tell me where she is finding her stuff. She keeps a pretty good inventory.

  6. Hmm...good point...she does seem to have a steady stream of new inventory.
I picture her being a cat burglar at the retirement homes in her area.
Either that or she goes to a lot of antique fairs and swap meets :)

  7. I need that.

  9. I've purchased a couple of things from Dorothy, I bought a razor from her and she shipped it in a padded envelope :( luckily it was okay. Her prices are set to move.

  10. I've noticed her prices have went up a little in the past 6months.
  11. The more advertising she gets, the higher the prices go. :) but. You still can get a Slim for under $40 from her.

  12. I get the feeling that Dorothy is the worst best kept secret in vintage shaving gear :)

  13. Thanks man, the candy stripe blank is brilliant. I am looking into the tortoise and amber versions as well, but I have some costs on my list so it will be a couple months at least.

  14. Well, well, well... Look what the postman left for me today.

It's an Engstrom frameback straight razor! It's in great shape and feels substantial compared to my no-name Soligen. It doesn't show through on my picture, but the blade has an arrow and JE 1874 lightly etched on it, for John Engstrom and the year the company was founded.

I won't have time to try it out until Friday morning, so I'll let you know how it shaves then. I'll post it up as my shave of the day.

  15. That is gorgeous!
Also pretty cool that it is made out of iron from the mine in Dannemora which was like THE iron mine back in the days.
Swedish steel was always considered some of best in the world but the stuff out of Dannemora was the stuff of legends (well it's also been running for hundreds and hundreds of years) :)

Btw..little known fact...: Know how highly regarded Sheffield steel products are... Guess what mine supplied them with the most of that steel? ;)

Congrats and...uh...if it turns out you hate it....let me know :)
