After lounging around for a few days at the San Diego USPS Distribution Center, the Bunny arrived yesterday and I had my first shave with it this morning.
My first impression was that this does not look like any sort of "homemade" razor. The packaging is quite nice, actually nicer than what came with my Mongooses. The razor weighs in at 1.85 oz, giving it a nice heft in the hand (a typical non-adjustable injector weighs about an ounce). It is quite evident that Tom is a big fan of the Schick Type F, as it resembles nothing as much as a chunky Type F with an open comb.
I gave it a quick (and probably unnecessary) cleaning and loaded a NOS Schick Super Chromium blade, It loaded like any injector razor, although I had to wiggle the key a bit to get it to slide in smoothly. One in, the blade slid smoothly into place and seated smartly against the blade stops when the key was removed. The MILD comb was in place and I left it there.
I went with Valobra soap and The Veg because I am very familiar with these and have always found them to work really well.
I did not find the blade angle to be particularly intuitive and the Bunny does not provide a lot of audible feedback. Still, I had it pretty much dialed in by the end of my first pass. I did my usual 3 pass shave.
With the mild comb in place the Bunny felt, well, mild. I was able to complete all 3 passes at a fairly rapid pace, without weepers, irritation or any of that sort of drama.
What I didn't see coming was that during post-shave I realized that I had just had a . . . really . . . close . . . shave.
I honestly have to say that it wasn't much different from yesterday's shave, which involved my Alumigoose 2 and a Feather Super Pro.
I'm really looking forward to experimenting with it for the next few days.
Thanks to Bill for sending it quickly, to Vince for facilitating the passaround, and of course to Tom for making it all happen.
More to follow.
