A very relaxing shave this morning. I used Noxzema cleansing cream as a pre-shave face wash for the first time today. Overall I really liked the cooling effect. I can see using the Noxzema more often. The TSD whipped up a nice slick lather with little to no effort. With a new Feather loaded, I went with a 2 pass, XTG & ATG shave, paying attention to my trouble spots as I went. A rinse revealed a near BBS shave so with the water and residual slickness from the soap, I got the few remaining areas smooth and ended up catching the baby. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum. Looking forward to a relaxing day with the family. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

I will definitely try it again one day. But as you say there a many good shaves to be had. I've just had a shave with a nice new personna platinum. I'm about to leave for London for work. 6 hours driving a van called for a guaranteed fantastic shave. I love a new personna it's just a shame they don't last. So far Feathers are winning with Astra's taking 2nd.

If you get good results with Astra, you're set! Hope you have a nice journey to London!

The journey will be fine it's the destination that is the problem. London is probably my least favourite part of the UK. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :happy088:

I hear nothing but praise for them so much so I had kind of held back on it as a treat. As I said it was incredibly tuggy from the get go I persisted and wouldn't call the end result terrible but it was by no means enjoyable. I will try a new one next month.

    Sunday Shave

    Cold water
    Pso-Homemade mint oil
    Razor-Gillette Flare Tip SS
    Blade- Feather (2)
    Brush- RazoRock Plissoft
    Soap- RazoRock XXX
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    ASB- Pinaud "Veg"

Everything came together today for an irritation free BBS. After reading all the talk the last few days on the XXX I decided to use it today. I love the scent and it almost lathers itself. The Flare Tip and RazoRock brush worked flawlessly. I had a full 2 days growth and the Feather mowed it down. It was much smoother on the second day than on the first. I went right to left, then left to right, then up. I only had 1 small spot left to touch up for the baby. The Thayers cooled everything off and the Veg finished it up. It was a great way to wipe away the last few days.

I continued my focus on face stretching today to prepare for a SR. It really improves the comfort of my shave as well as the closeness. Thank you @Bama Samurai for the suggestion, also notice I finally have Flare. Have a great day folks!

Do you feel the Noxema helped your soap?

Glad Noxzema worked for you Clint, i think it's excellent and after trying others I find my shaves are consistently better when using it. I think I know why now...hydration! It seems to leave the face hydrated for shaving. As you said the cooling effect feels nice and I find the medicinal eucalyptus scent comforting also. :)

I normally use an unscented shea butter face soap as a pre-shave face wash. After Kerry's post about using Noxzema, I asked my wife to pick me up some to give it a try. It didn't leave my face as slick as the shea butter soap but I did like the cooling effect. Also the scent dissipated quickly so it didn't clash with the soap. I can see using it more during warm weather. It also helps that it is available in stores and not something that I need to order.

How are you guys using the Noxzema? As a face wash with a full rinse or are you leaving it on like a pre shave oil?

You can do both! It's an excellent pre shave. For pre shave wash I just dip my brush into the container and face lather it but I'm actually cleansing. Works great! :)

Any shave with a Feather and skin stretching should be super close! Good work today. And I love the fact that you wear the Veg, I put some on after my ISZ AS today.
