The Star appears to be an 1896 model - fairly rare. It has no blade stops and thus will only take wedge blades. It looks like there may be a blade wrapped in paper. The other one looks like a Wilkinson. --Bob
Thanks Bob. If anyone had an inkling of knowledge regarding these lessor known SE razor I know it would be you.
Is this what we've now become?!! We're no longer "Enablers" ?!!! We are now - 'kind friends' who help by 'coat tail pulling' each other?!!! Aye yi yi! you guys are Justifiers!!! .......And I'm soooo thankful to have you too - as my D, E Types, PALs, etc are ALL because of you "Kind Folks!" In fact you've all been so kind lately, just wait until you see my next 2 entries that appear on the thread in about 10 days due to the efforts of the Usual Suspects on this page - and you know who you are! Sheesh, I love you guys!
March 21, 2016 The month of March has focused on two Schick E type razors: a Canadian E and a US E2, while also trying out different blades with each. Hot Shower Razor: Schick E2 Blade: NOS Schick Platinum (Holland) (1) Soap: Flannel in the Rain (PAA) Brush: Ever-Ready 1CS Badger Black/Lucite TSD Witch Hazel Myrsol Blue Two-day growth. Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG First time trying this blade, reputed to be one of the sharpest injector blades...and it is noticeably sharper. It's sharpness really helps with technique focus beginning with the proper angle. Too little, not much reduction. Too much it seems to tug. Just right - slices nicely and smooth. I will get the hang of it but will go gingerly through the minefield that is my broad chin. Great first shave! Cheers! RT

A day and a half worth of whiskers obliterated by the venerable E-4 So far the epitome of quality whisker whacker
Broke out my 1924 as I've been on an injector bender for longer than I remember and I thought it would be a good idea to re-familiarize myself with an SE before picking up my 1914 on Thursday. It didn't disappoint. A new blade would have been a good thing facing 2+ days of beard but it did the job and then some. A smooth, close shave all around that I just wanted to keep going. No cuts, nicks, or weepers. T&H Ultimate Comfort PSO Bio Palmyra Shaving Cream Savile Row 3824 GEM SS PTFE (4) T&H Classic After Shave Balm Happy shaving - Karl
Another day another wonderful 1912 shave. Today I took on two days growth with a new GEM blade. First WTG pass was a little "tuggy", but I shallowed out the angle and it calmed down. XTG and ATG passes finished things off. My wife made me come back for a second "good-bye" kiss before she'd let me leave because my face was so smooth. It's 11 PM, 16 hours later and I barely feel any stubble...amazing.
Back to the Schick type D (loaded with a twin blade) for Tuesday. I may just stay with the type D for the entire week just because its such a fantastic little razor.
A little late getting this up, but here is (was) today's shave: Bunny V3 w/WILD comb NOS Schick Super Chromium (3) Plisson synthetic Mitchell's Wool Fat Pinaud Clubman Continuing to get acquainted with the Bunny. Even with the WILD comb this is one super-smooth shaver. --Bob
Started with the GEM G-bar this morning. It gave a pretty effortless shave. I got great results. Love the TABAC. My new JR51 got its first run today. It performed flawlessly. Overall though, I couldn't help thinking about Thursday. Two important things happen. I will be switching to the Ever-Ready 1914 for its annual shave, and The Bunny is scheduled to arrive. That means I have to be very careful with my Thursday shave so The Bunny will have a good face to work on come Friday.
Just for fun I switched to the mild comb today. I'm not typically a mild razor fan but I am now. Very nice BBS today. SOTD Mitchell's Wool Fat Rubberset 400 Bunny V3 with mild comb Chick bade (4) Alum Thayer's Witch Hazel Ogallala Bay Rum Have fun!
Today's shave: Bunny V3 w/WILD comb NOS Schick Super Chromium (4) Plisson synthetick brush Chiseled Face Groomatorium Sherlock soap & as Adventures in Bunnyland continues. Today I learned that with the WILD comb installed the Bunny can bite if one gets careless. Nothing serious - just a bit of irritation. --Bob
Three Pass Shaving Routine.. Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil Schick Type E 1 Injector NOS Dutch Super Stainless Injector Blade New Hans Baier Silver Tip Badger Haslinger Honey Tallow Soap Thayers Original Witch Hazel Logona Mann Aftershave Balm I had My First Shave with my Newly Acquired Schick Type E 1 Injector today with an NOS Dutch blade..I had 2 days of whiskers to cut down & went for the Money Button BBS Dolphin Smooth Shave..I have heard it said that there is No such thing as the perfect shave.. Well..Maybe Aye..Maybe Hook Eye..Cause I am sitting here with an All Over Dolphin Smooth Result..I don't mean form North to South & form East to West neither..I mean in every Darn Direction.. The Type E 1 has Half a Millimetre more Blade Exposure than the Coveted Type E 2 that Opens as you can see in the 3rd Pic..The 4th Pic down shows that is has an Identical Blade Exposure to my Black Handle Canadian Type E 5 which is also a Rare Bird..The Canadian Type E 5 is the Most Aggressive Injector that I own..The Type E 1 is far more Forgiving though..I can only put that down to the Smooth Comb other than that its a bit of a Mystery because the Blade Gap is Identical as Well.. So the Type E 1 is More Aggressive than the Type E 2 that Opens but its as Smooth as the Type D..The Type E 1 has a Square Spring the same as the Type D..It was the only Type E with a Square Spring & like the Type D was only made for a Few Months..The Type E 1 is actually a Lot Rarer than the Type D & the Type F for that Matter & they are Rare Birds as Well.. Like the Type D the Type E 1 can lead you into a false sense of security because its so smooth that doesn't feel that aggressive..I can get away with some pressure with the Type D with the same Blade Combo..Not with this Bad Boy..I would have Had to use a Cut Down Feather Pro in my Type E 2 to get anything Near as Effeciant as the E 1..No Bones about that One..It does make some sense to me Now where the Canadian Type E 5 gets its Blade Exposure from..They have Utilized a Type E 1 blade Exposure & changed it to a Ridged Comb & of Course a Round Spring with No Lugs.. What more can I say except that its the Dogs Danglies.. Billy...
March 21, 2016 The month of March has focused on two Schick E type razors: a Canadian E and a US E2, while also trying out different blades with each. Hot Shower Razor: Schick E2 Blade: NOS Schick Platinum (Holland) (2) Soap: Nancy Boy Signature Brush: Ever-Ready 1CS Badger Black/Lucite TSD Witch Hazel Myrsol Blue Two-day growth. Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG Getting more used to this very sharp blade - warning: don’t even think of day dreaming while using it! Got a much more enjoyable shave today. Technique? Shave cream? This particular cream has excellent glide that really did seem to help. Cheers! RT
