After a wonderful stretch with the GEM 1912 I received from @PickledNorthern, I've decided to revisit the STAR SE I received earlier from @Omaney. While it's a near clone of the 1912, I don't remember this razor being nearly as smooth. But I'm better at this shaving stuff than I used to be. We'll see.[IMG]

Ohhh wow.....It's getting hot in here.....I need to crank the AC......Whew! The old Gal has still got IT !!!!!!!!

Now check her out! This is the razor that went with our 'Dough Boys' in the War to End All Wars....and kept them looking sharp, and feeling respectable, in the trenches....I imagine the need for a little me time, and at least a few minutes of cleaning up and getting a great shave....must have been soooo needed and appreciated by those guys.....And this was such a great razor to give it to them!

And yours looks like she was born yesterday.....

"But your Honour,...she might look 15, but I sware she told me she was 102!".... :happy097::happy102:

The Bunny has landed, and this is our first shave together. Starting out with the mild with a Schick blade.

The Speick Shave Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #51 synthetic brush. Two passes with The Bunny V3 injector razor and a Schick Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Speick After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The mild comb seemed to be just right. After reading all the reviews, I got the angle right off the bat. The handle is of excellent design. I had no slippage issues, and the length of the handle and shape of the end made holding it on the end very intuitive. I actually had my first shave with The Bunny in my dreams last night. Very funny. It also was an excellent shave. That was shave number one.

I an glad you enjoyed your maiden voyage with the Bunny. I am not sure, but I think you were kind of looking forward to trying it. I could be wrong though

Back to the Bunny I switched back to the Notso comb today and loaded a fresh blade. I think this is my setting. Wonderful shave today!

    Today's Bunny Shave

    Bunny V3 w/NOTSO comb installed
    Personna (Ted Pella) blade (2)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
Art of Shaving soap (old style tallow based)
    Captain's Choice Sandalwood aftershave
    Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood EdT

They don't get a lot of love, but I'm finding that the Personna blade works really well for me in the Bunny. Today's shave was as good as previous shaves with an NOS Schick Super Chromium - maybe even better! I'd forgotten how good the AoS tallow soap is (not surprising - it was made for AoS by Valobra). A fine shave indeed.

I used the Star SE "1912 clone" today. First thing I noticed on comparison was that this razor is not nearly as smooth feeling as the 1912. Second thing I noticed is the audible feedback is much louder on this razor. I finished 3 passes and was not really happy with the result. Grabbed my wife's Fat Handle Tech that was on the counter and cleaned things up. Ended up with a passable shave. I know each razor has its own "personality" so I've got more work to get to know this one.[IMG]

All these 1912s were all made by the American Safety Razor Company under different brand names...The Star is not a Clone..In truth all the later so called New Improved 1912s were all Clones of the Original 1912 Damaskeene..:p

The twin blade in the type D was too dull to keep going another day so I figured it time to pick something I havent used in a while. My mint cased type I fit the bill and is on deck for tomorrow.

During March I’m focused on two Schick E type razors:
a Canadian E and a US E2, while also trying out different blades with each.

Took time out from the Focus to honor the 102nd anniversary of the patent on the 1914 EverReady. I don’t own one so I used the closet thing I had yesterday - the 1912 Gem Junior. Today I’m using the 1924 EverReady ‘Shovelhead’ tonight.

    Hot Shower
    Razor: 1924 EverReady ‘Shovelhead’
    Blade: GEM PTFE (2)
    Soap: Nancy Boy Signature
    Brush: Rooney 3/3 "Super" Silvertip
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Myrsol Limon

    Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG
Yesterday the 1912 GEM left me clean enough for a two-pass today. These old SEs sure let you know they are working, even with a very shallow angle. The ‘ping’ of each whisker being sliced is a bit unnerving, but the cushion/glide of this great soap is an excellent match and results in a very close shave - 99% BBS.

Shaving at night due to an early start tomorrow to attend the Washington State presidential caucus. I’m sure I’ll still be close shaven, with absolutely no irritation…

…but I will still be ‘feeling the bern’ all day! ;)

    Cheers!

The Speick Shave Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #51 synthetic brush. Two passes with The Bunny V3 injector razor and a Schick Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave with one exception: I was a bit careless, and it bit me on my septum. OUCH! I knew right away, but blood was contained, and I will live to shave another day. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Speick After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I should have been more careful. This should not have happened, but the angle of the head is not what I am used to. I know what not to do tomorrow. I will continue with the MILD comb for now as I am getting good results.

Thanks Billy. Are you saying the Star is made by the same company who made the GEM? What I've noticed after two shaves is that the Star is much more aggressive and difficult to use. Strange, because, other than a longer handle, it's almost identical to the 1912. But it is not. Got a DFS today, but it wasn't nearly as easy or enjoyable as the GEM.

My hands were not shaking. I did this with confidence: misplaced confidence, but confidence none the less.
