Update. Found the razor that will be goon with the strop, and started honing it. It is a "Sensation" and marked Ross something on the back of the Tang, Pittsburgh, PA. So this would have been an import marked for a hardware store. I have set the bevel on a 1 k stone, and gone through a 3k and 5k waterstone. I will switch to naturals, test shave with it before I send it out.

 

That will look perfect in my bathroom

I've been sitting on the fence for awhile...old dogs and new tricks and all that so I've reconsidered, so count me in on this.
I would have a pink light saber, cause real men use pink light sabers....

I will give the razor a test shave tomorrow, but I think I have it dialed in. Only today and tomorrow left to enter.

Today's shave was a shave test for the razor after honing it. The razor is marked "Sensation" on one side of the tang, and "Ross W. Black, Pittsburgh, PA" on the other. 5/8 muted square tip. I honed it on Naniwia 1, 3, and 5k stones, a Colorado Slate, then used a progression of pastes on it. Of the three razors I have taken from bevel set to done, this is the only one that treetopped hairs. It was fairly smooth too. I did three passes with it, to really feel the edge. Alum was quiet, except for a small cut where I dug in the tip. (Pro tip: Don't do that.) DFS with minor irritation. Going to go back to my finisher stone and give it another test shave on Friday.

 

I look forward to using it.
