  4. WEDNESDAY
My first shave with this newly-acquired King Pelican 14 6/8" qtr-hollow. L'Occitane 'Cade' soap provided good slickness for what was an outstanding shave with this fine Japanese razor.
I love the slightly smaller blade length (58mm/2.28") and killer-keen edge. Fine 'Platinum' finish to a near-BBS three-pass shave.
Have a great Hump Day, all!

  5. Everything is fine, just a few age related problems, comes with the territory. Thanks for your concern.

  7. Tuesday 4/6/16
    Prep:
    Hot shower, Nivea face wash
    Brush: Omega #5575 Boar
Lather: Ginger's Garden Lavender Herbal soap with clay and mango butter
    Razor: Merkur 1904 41c OC
    Blade: Crystal (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, (4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Thayer's Witch Hazel pad, Ginger's Garden Lavender Herbal AS splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

Today's shave was bad. How bad was it? The lather was certainly decent, considering the boar is still not displaying the split tips of a fully broken-in version, but the Crystal scraped and tugged so badly that I decided to forego the 3rd pass; the alum burned like crazy all over my throat, though I saw no tell-tale red from bloodshed. I'd call the results a SAS, and hope the blade performs better in the black-handled SS tomorrow.

  8. You are a brave man for giving that blade another chance. Once bitten twice shy for me! I've had positive experiences with crystal's so maybe it was just a bad pairing. Ill cross my fingers for tomorrows shave for you.
  9. The SS is easily my mildest razor, so I'm not overly concerned, especially factoring in that the sting did not equate to bloodshed.
