Today's shave was All American. Fine's American Blend smells awesome, lathers easily, great glide and protection. Two passes +clean up, super close near BBS, no cuts, no nicks, and no weepers. The Blackbird, loaded with a Feather, is still my #1 DE. Long may you all cruise. Have a tremendous Thursday everyone.

Bravo. I add water in small amounts several times as I face lather. It helps me get the lather just where I want it. Keep up the good work.

Today on the chopping block is GEMJunior, this razor performed very well but with a blade than already had a shave on it. I usually find the first shave with a GEM blade a little rough so today I put a new blade in to give this razor it's final test.

Definitely staying:
Genco Easy Aces SR, hard to let go of cool looking, great shaving piece of vintage American steel just because it is smaller than I like. It is also my only vintage American SR.

Leaning toward staying:
Wade and Butcher will stay in the SR stable until a much nicer specimen can be sourced.

Leaning toward releasing:
Jerry Stark 5/8 SR. Looks great, shaves great just to small a blade. I would prefer to sell this and trade up for a larger blade
GEM Micromatic Open Comb - or in short MMOC (in gold)

Will be released:
Sight unseen Whipped Dog SR. This shaves great but I want to PIF it to someone who wants to get started with SR. (PIFed)
Merkur Vision - despite major coolness she can't compete with an aggressive Futur.
BBS-1 - Give my move to the dark side it is just not aggressive enough to remain in my DE stable. (sold)

Have you tried stropping an SE blade prior to first usage?

How did you know? Yes I strop the blade before the first use and before every use.

 

I didn't know! I was just wondering, never used an SE myself.

 

I am crazy I also stop my DE blades but not before the first use. Since picking up straights I have learned the benefits of stropping even if they are only in my mind.

 

Physics says it's real.

 

Bourbon Jungle is my favorite Rt66 too. Fantastic scent! That being said, there isn't a bad Rt66 scent.
