It was a "notification when product back in stock" email but the link just goes to their standard out of stock page with a mention of "keep your fingers crossed for the end of the month"?????

Since I am no longer NB '16, I tried to buy a puck, but alas, they are out of stock. Enjoy your shave tomorrow.

    ArkoApril in Russia!

    April 15

Razor - 1959 Gillette Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Arko
Post - Cold water rinse, Alum, The Veg

After three surprisingly good shaves from the Dorco 301 it's time to dive back into the Russian pool. For the record, I had intended to finish with three of the St. Petersburg blades, the 7 o'clock Yellow, Sputnik, and Gillette Silver Blue. I'll skip the Sputnik since I took a time out to review the Dorco.

Now, on to this morning's shave. Back to the Gillette Super Speed and still Arko for the soap of course. Went to the Wolf Whiskers for the lather and it was as awesome as always. The blade of the day is the Rapira Super Stainless....er....Chrome. The blade itself is stamped Super Stainless and the tuck says Super Stainless...but also says Chrome on the edge. The reason for mentioning this is because the "other" super stainless is in the pin, blue and white wrapper/tuck. And, it leads the pack so far this month in performance. Neither that one nor this one is listed on the current website for Mostochlegmash so, going on prior information and data, the difference is that this blade does include chrome in the coating, whereas the pink wrapper is stainless only. Or both may also include teflon as well. Clear, right?

First pass was quite comfortable and smooth. And, a nice finish to it. Second pass XTG and I'm getting nice audible feedback on both passes, and a really good near BBS on the second pass. I went ahead and started the chase and after a third pass ATG and neck slides the baby was in the room. Impressive. Even now, after the entire day, I'm still smoother than I was with the Dorco and also the Swedish Supersteel. Very nice first shave with this Rapira. I'm looking forward to giving it another two days to see if it lasts. So far I've had two BBS's from the Sharp Star and Platinum Lux, three BBS from the Rapira Super Stainless, and one from the Swedish. This blade seems destined to vie for the top spot, at least based on today.

Shocking update on the flaming idiots loyal minions currently still trying to find the border in Russian. After the shocking problems in the Chelyabinsk electrical substation, as documented by @DDuckyMark , they were detained by the authorities. So now, a million carrots to pay off the bunny mafia, the cost of repairs to the substation and now I'm trying to raise bail. They seem to be holding up ok so far. Too good, perhaps. I just hope Ivan didn't really bite the guy in the back as it looks like he was about to do. As to what's really going on there? I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.

    Saturday 4/15/16 shave:

Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash
    Brush: Jayaruh #33 Horsehair
    Lather: Speick Stick
Razor: 1st quarter 1971 Black Handle Gillette SS
    Blade: Q-Ball Platinum Plus (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (10, 11)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Thayer's Witch Hazel pad, Speick AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

Yesterday's shave was close enough that 3 passes were not necessary, and I did not especially want to play Press Your Luck with the Q-Ball Platinum Plus on its 4th day, regardless of how much I like the blade. As usual, the Speick provided a good protective lather and the Black Handle SS was silky smooth. Two passes were more than ample for DFS+ results this AM.

Good morning everyone. This morning i took the GEM 1912 for another spin. Today i decided to hold the razor on the lower end of the handle and it worked great for me as i like longer handles on most razors, this made the GEM feel more maneuverable and zippy to me. I'm used to more aggressive razors so it took a fair amount of work which resulted in some irritation on my neck area but with my light touch i can't help but wonder if it's the blade? Are these GEM blades the preferred ones? I kind of solved the under the nose wtg issue which was aggravating me by using the large head on the razor to push my nose up out of the way. I ended up with another dolphin smooth shave but again with some irritation...that bothers me. Have a great shave and a great day folks. Ice bucket pic below. :)

I hope you are able to score the Cobra. I saw they went very quick on Classic Shaving last night.

The Glacial Wintergreen trio worked its fantastic, freezing-cold magic and gave me a most pleasurable BBS shave this morning. That Plissoft 26mm of mine is a lather beast - love it! :happy088: :happy088:

    Sandalwood Showdown
I got a sample of Mühle Sandalwood cream from a local apothecary and I decided to compare it with Reef Point's take on this classic scent. I applied the cream to one side of my face and lathered the soap on the other. This was a great shave overall, so both products do their job well. I'll give the nod to Reef Point, though, because the scent is more pleasing and I am biased toward soaps. Neither has a super strong scent, nor as warm as Proraso Red. The Mühle cream kind of looks like Proraso, with a certain shiny, almost silvery sheen. Reef Point lathers very easily and provides plenty of slick protection. TTFFC For Flint is a nice compliment, and leaves my face well cared for, supple and smooth.
    Prep: Jack Black Nourishing Oil
Lather: Reef Point Sandalwood, Mühle Sandalwood cream
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Voskhod
