SOTD April 19, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (2) Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: Soap Commander Endurance Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Old Spice knock-off, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Pretty smooth, nice shave in one pass with touch-up. In the vein of @Rusty blade I am going to finish off this sample of Soap Commander Endurance before moving on to the next soap. This my first use of a Semogue brush and it didn't disappoint. I soaked it while I was in the shower and then it only took a few seconds to load up and then apply to the face. I ended up with great lather. Astra blade worked well again in the open comb Maggard razor. All in all a nice shave! Have a great day everyone!
I definitely owe myself more shaves with my Tabac stick - it's awesome. The lather exploded off my Plissoft brush in seconds and I easily had enough for a 5 pass shave. The scent came out right away as well, and it's so old-school in a European way which I love. The Tabac aftershave stung for a split second but then it felt wonderful. BBS in two easy passes!

LIMEY Today's shave I washed my face with excess bloom water Ever-Ready 150 Taconic Lime Merkur Progress (3.5) Astra sp RR esentual oil of lime a/s Marvy shave mug Today's shave was nice. I like my old ER, the knot aint pretty ,but it sure works nice. The progress is always a sure home run (for me). Finished with the rr lme (from pif) it's great stuff, thanks again. Hope y'all did as well, or better.

Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Italian Barber Amici The Mongoose is such a great razor!! IB Amici is a wonderful slick, cushion-y and wonderful post shave soap. The matching aftershave is a must have with this soap. Yesterday I received a package from my friend Clint, he had told me he was sending me a jar of soap, well also in the box was this stunning Ever-Ready 100T! I absolutely love this brush!! Two Pass Shaving Pass Routine.. Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade (Freshly Honed) Kent BK2 Pure badger Haslinger Tallow Shaving Soap LOGONA Mann Aftershave I just had a shave today with my CV. Heljestrand with a Freshly Honed Hollow Ground Blade..This is the (PSA) Sticky back Aluminium Oxide Lapping Film I am using here..12 Micron to Set the Bevel, 5 Micron, 3 Micron & 0.5 Micron for a Final Polish..The 0.5 Micron Needs to be cushioned so I just kept the sticky on & Sealed it flat with water & it worked a Treat.. Just like the Rolls Blade the work is in Setting the Bevel..I had Rounded the edge of this blade in my early days of using the Magnus Auto Strop with too much Zeist..Auto Strops are Fine but they require a very light Touch..People that were using these back in the Day would have been used to Stropping Lightly with a Stropping Handle & would have understood a Light touch..I wouldn't recommend an Auto strop to anybody that isn't Proficient at using a stropping handle..Auto Strops are not a Magic Wand..A Great Tool for someone whom is already proficient at Stropping in the usual manner.. One WTG Pass & One ATG Pass & Dolphin Smooth..This Freshly Honed Blade has a Keen Edge but more Importantly it is very Smooth & Comfortable..As Smooth as Icing on a Cake..I Need to get some 15 Micron as its a bit of work with the 12 Micron to set the Bevel..The 12 Micron does the Job though.. Lapping Film is a Good way to Go for anybody Learning to Hone without a lot of outlay..Its easy to use as long as its Flat..I am tending to use a wider cut now because if I have trapped anything underneath I can still find a clear line..The Sticky back stuff is not Ideal for that reason but its the easiest to get in the UK..Lapping Film in the USA is far Cheaper & Easier to get.. Smashing Shave today with the CV. Heljestrand..This is One Almighty Shaving Tool..Its Worth 100 Hundred SE razors and Maybe then Some..This Blade is going to a Friend in the USA @Karl G along with a Streamline Set that he bought in the UK..I hope I have done a Good enough Job on the Blade for Karl to Experience the Wonders of a Hollow Ground Blade that is properly Honed & Sharpened..
