For Flint Friday I used Detroit Grooming Company Manistee gel as a pre shave today, and it did the job, though it did dry out and absorb into my skin pretty quickly. The HIS made dense, yogurt-like lather from the soap as I added water slowly during loading. I built the lather on my face right on top of the Manistee. Three smooth and easy passes with the Futur on five left me with dolphin smooth skin. I used the matching aftershave, which was a little bit of a stinger, but calmed down quickly and provided welcome moisture. I finished with Pi Neo to carry on the scent family. Detroit Grooming Company has opened a barbershop near me, and I’m going to check it out today. We are moving soon, so I have to control my spending, or I would have made an appointment for a straight razor shave there. I might get a haircut. FRIDAY Early start this morning so an evening shave was needed last night. Day 2 of using Japanese-made razors—the FON 'Golden Star Deluxe' 13/16 is a real treat! I love the feel of this razor in-hand and the edge is silky-smooth. One of those 'spoiler' razors that 'raises the bar' every time. Route 66 'Cavendish' lather and my go-to 'Snake Bite' finish. Wonderful shave. Have a great Friday, all!
Late Thursday night shave Had to hit the road at 5 am Friday so a rare evening shave gave me a head start. Razor- late 40's Aristocrat Blade- Feather (not in pic - I changed my mind) Brush- Whipped Dog Silvertip Soap- Maggard Mango Sage Tea I had forgotten how nice the Aristocrat was. And paired with a Feather blade it was smooth as silk. An effortless BBS that, 12 hours later, I could still classify as DFS/CCS. Really nice!
