What razor do you typically use? It will help decipher a good blade option, though that's an incredibly personal thing.

I currently have Personna Lab blues and Perma sharps in my current rotation and like them both a lot. Smooth and sharp.

Do order the blade sampler on Ebay or Amazon. World wide their are over 100 blade brands. Try 25-30 brands and you'll find one you love.
Most of us have many razors, if you add more make one an adjustable on your next buy. The Merkur Progress is a wonderful adjustable razor. You could start with a mild setting and have the blades be the variable.

I would agree with getting blade samplers in the beginning. The more different blades you can try the quicker you'll find the blade/blades the suit your face and technique the best. That said I use Vikings Sword blades out of the Persona plant in Israel. You can get them online through Tierra Santa shaving supplies. Liorfe is a member here at TSD. Good luck in your quest. :happy088:

Hi. Most irritation is actually caused by blade angle or pressure, and not any particular blade. I'd say keep using Feather. Crystal is a really good blade also, it's Personna Israel. I you like Polsilver, try Gillette Silver Blue. Be sure to focus on keeping a nice low and consistent blade angle, and resist the urge to apply pressure to make it cut more efficiently. Cold water prep also makes hair easier to cut, and cold reduces inflammation, allowing for closer shaving while still maintaining comfort.

And I am not a shaving expert, but the above advice is good stuff.

What is your number one? Polsilver?

Edit: I am embarrassed, I should remember this.

Truthfully Chris they are tied with Personna Lab Blues for the #1 spot. The reason is not only because of how smooth they are but they are 2 blades that work perfectly well in every razor in my arsenal. :)

Perma-Sharp Supers are the best blades ever made. No YMMV on this one. I'm right, and if you don't agree, you're wrong.

well I think I have a similar problem as you, but at this point I can not give any blade advice. I would recommend 2 previously mentioned bits of advice, #1 map your beard it will make a difference, #2 try a pre shave oil or other pre shave. Pre shave can be as simple as just using a bit of olive oil on your face or making or purchasing a pre shave product. One last thing I would recommend is make sure what ever razor you are using concentrate on getting your angle right and using light to no pressure. I noticed if I used the wrong angle and/or too much pressure I would get irritation especially on my neck. Hope this helps you.

Get yourself a vintage Gillette adjustable it'll take a lot of the guesswork out of Blade selection

I've been experimenting with blades for months now, all in the same razor. I've found several I like and a couple I don't, but I haven't found a favorite yet. Presently I'm alternating between Feather and Bic chrome platinum. Then maybe I'll go milder and try the Personna red again. I haven't tried GSB yet, so I'll order a few from Try-a-blade, then try Voshkod again, or maybe the Polsilver. You can see my dilemma, I'd need to shave 8 times a day to actually come to a conclusion. Maybe you could just tell me which is your favorite :)
