I didn't take it as a slight. The DMZ in Vietnam was a heck of a place also. There has been turnaround in attitude since the return of the American Armed Forces from Vietnam in the 60's.
04/28/2016 AlumiGoose with Hempel Ti Feather Pro (6) Elite Razor “Tres Amigos” Ironwood Beehive with Envy White Tiki Cabernet Neroli Witch Hazel Myrsol F/Extra Whipped Shea Butter Since I had the time this morning, I decided to go with a full 3 pass shave. By paying close attention to my trouble spots during the 3 passes I was able to avoid most of the usual touch ups. The shave was very smooth and I will say it is one of my rare working morning BBS shaves. Finished up with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
SOTD April 28, 2016 Russian blades focus Prep: Warm shower Blade: Astra Superior Stainless Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb Brush: Maple handle badger Lather: Arko Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Pinaud Citrus Musk, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Good shave again with Arko. Today's touch-up lather was much better compared to the previous days. I think the badger brush works better with Arko than the boar brush I was using, mainly due to Arko being a thirsty soap and needing good amounts of water. I went with Astra SS today. I wasn't too thrilled about them the last time I tried it, but today's use was good. It felt smooth and sharp. I think my technique has probably improved to where some blades that weren't previous favorites should get a second try. This was one of them and I'm glad I tried it again. One big pass with generous touch-ups and I'm ready for the day. I wish you all a good one!
Straights Focus April 28: Stirling Synthetic Brush Cella Schick Adjustable Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman Vanilla AS First shave back in town after a little mini vacation to San Antonio. I was too tired this morning, so I slept in a bit and pulled out the Schick Adjustable, which I had been using on my trip. It was definitely a quick and easy shave. I'll pick up a straight before the end of the month. I have lots of catch up to do on the thread. Have a great day.
Thank you Doug. I am just happy that it is Thursday and the week is just about over. Looking forward to the weekend. I hope you have a great day.
@RaZorBurn123 I was looking through some posts from earlier this month where you were using Fine American Blend soap. Then I recalled you shelved it? Was it underwhelming for you, or not work for you? My interest was piqued from the thread discussing barbershop scents that's going on right now. I love American Blend after shave!
Soap Focus I'm trying to make sure all of my soaps make it into the focus this month. I am going to finish the month with this razor as I am getting fantastic shaves with it. Next month is a straight focus so I might as well get some dolphin smooth shaves in as it might be a while before I see that again Mystic Waters Lime Doug Korn synthetic brush Stahly head on Weber Bulldog handle Feather blade (2) Alum Thayers Witch Hazel Florida Water AS Have fun!
