Wow, wonderful stuff Neal and quite the PIF John. One thing to point out...it's your karma Neal. As the Pied Piper of Blades, and one of the lead Shenaniganistas on this thread, you've been sharing the love for as long as I've been on here (and I've been just one of the many recipients.) I was so lucky to have found this shave forum first. It fit me so well, I had no need to even consider exploring other forums. Cheers to all TSDenizens! RT
April 29, 2016 A month with my Schick Type F. My three weeks with the F were very successful, as was this last week with the Type G4. Both razors shined with the FergieFeather blade (modified Feather AC Pro). I realized that I had not used that blade when I assessed my Type D, soooo…. Hot Shower Razor: Schick Type D Blade: The FergieFeather Mod (Feather AC Pro - cut to fit) (1) Soap: Route 66 - The Black Pearl Brush: Omega 48 TSD Witch Hazel AS: Myrsol Blue Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG Like most shaves this week I probably didn’t even need the XTG pass and could have gone straight to one ATG pass…but I wanted to test this razor/blade combo. A fine first pass but it was somewhat different than my usual XTG passes this week. The ATG pass revealed the issue fairly quickly with a few nicks and a cut on my mouth corner. The sharpness of the Feather AC Pro that was so smooth on the F and G, clearly reminded me that the cutting angle on the D is different than the F and G. I may not have noticed it as much with other blades while using the D, but this blade clearly accentuates it. From my perspective, the angle on the D is more like the Schick Repeaters (Types A,B,C) than it is the F and G. Some describe the Repeater angle as an angle as close to using a straight razor than with any other safety razor. Once I had the razor head nearly flat on my face, the razor / blade combo smoothed out and I put my styptic pencil away. I’ll give it another go on my next shave with this reminder fresh in mind. Cheers! RT
I am so glad you're happy with the choice we made. This thing is quite the little lather monster for sure.
Thank you both. To be honest, the PIF could be considered a "Den Clearing" of sorts (just another sort of den) with the laptop in question being a retired Dell Latitude that I had pulled off the recycle pile at work back in December. It's a bit slow by current standards but should (I hope) still be a solid Internet and general purpose system. Total outlay by me was postage only and that was probably less than I've seen other people PIF in brushes or soap. I'm just glad I could find my own way to pay a little back to this community and its spirit. JR
Razor: Bunny V3 Blade: Schick Injector (3) Brush: "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood w/Envy White Soap: Captain's Sandalwood A/S: Captain's Choice Sandalwood Busy day on the golf course. Cold, windy, and an 88. Fortunately I can come home had a great dinner Thank you my dearest wife, then an excellent shave. Everything okay now. Another great shave with the Bunny V3. Very good razor.
Ha! nice Bunny...and I'm not just talking about that razor! one other thing...what's that ol' saying? aw you know the one......the one that says something about a bad day on the golf course vs a great day at work?!!! Life should be so tough for us all Douglas!
I am one lucky man. I just like to complain sometimes. Because we walk the course cold weather can take a lot out of us from time to time. Thankful to be still walking 18 holes no matter what the score.
Arko April!!! 29 April 2016 Fatip Grande Derby Extra (15!!!) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Arko!!! Alum TSD ISZ AS Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Day fifteen provided another nice near BBS! Tomorrow will be the last day for this blade, but only so I can switch kits for MAYhem! I've really enjoyed this month, and have had a great time mastering the Fatip Grande. This is a razor that demands "riding the cap". If you've never spent time with Arko or Veg, maybe you should! Classic! Back to wintertime, big storm on the prairie tonight! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great weekend!
Friday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle Blade- Gillette Silver Blue Soap- Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO AS- Florida Water I switched back to the R41 tonight and worked on riding the cap. I did the left side of my face normally and the right side riding the cap. I must say there is a big difference in both feel and results. The razor slightly tugged on the left, no tugging on the right. I missed a couple spots on the left that I could have chased but didn't, I missed nothing on the right. First time using Florida Water tonight, I like the scent, it stung more on the left than the right. Thank you @Bama Samurai for posting about this. On top of blade comparisons next month it's also going to be "cap" month. @Robyflexx, I face lathered tonight, it worked great. No noticeable difference between it and bowl lathering. I'm switching out for Arko and a Derby tomorrow. Is everyone ready? Have a great day folks!
Thanks Chris! I really like it,I bottled some up in a glass spray bottle and refrigerated it. Feels great and SWMBO liked it too so I can continue wearing it. I added some M-Bomb to the bottle after the trial run, it should feel even better tomorrow.
