1. That Stirling Glacial MITA is even better than the regular one and is hypothermic freezingly cold, love it!!!:love029::love029::love055::love055: Also that a VDH brush can be softened up nicely if lathered up the night before and left to sit overnight. :)

  2. Sadly, I think I learned that I just don't enjoy SEs as much as DEs, with the exception of the PAL Adjustable I tried in a passaround last year. I'll probably hang onto my MMOC, but I think it's time to let my other remaining SEs go to a new home.

  3. That alum makes my skin feel very tight and dry. That was first use of alum but that initial impression was not too positive.

And that just when you think you've got lathers dialed in you end up with a runny, worthless mess.

  4. Happens to me on occasion. That's why I keep a tube of unscented KMF in the cabinet. A little squirt will thicken and boost the lather without masking the scent of the soap you're using

  5. That I must have been lucky with no damage to my OS early 06 shaving mug when I melted a puck of VDH Deluxe in it. Worked perfectly, filling the mug as I thought it would. Great shave. It was only later that I read that I shouldn't put the OS mug in the microwave. Oops. I won't do it again because I love that mug.

  6. Even the shovel head with the longer handle? I think that one looks cool.

I want to try doing that to my Gem Junior

  7. That motel soap works just fine in a pinch.
  8. Even the Shovel Head. Mine also has very worn blade stops so it's a pain to keep the blade from shifting
  9. Ahhh...never good. Gotta have the blade stops.

  10. That even after all this time, I still try to squeak out too many shaves from one blade....

  15. I learned that riding the cap makes a bad blade (in my opinion) like a Derby shave decent and a good blade (again, my opinion) like a Ladas shave wonderfully. Just 2 shaves in and I'm convinced that riding the cap is the way to go.

  16. You just gotta learn how to use the tools ya got.
    Technique trumps tools.

Just a couple o' things I've heard tossed 'round here before.

  17. I think I've heard that before ;)

You are absolutely correct though. I now know if I had to use a Derby I could

  18. For reasons that unknown I loaded a Feather in my Joris today. I needed a close shave and did not have enough time for a SR shave. I always thought a Feather would be too sharp in my Joris. I guess I was not completely awake so I loaded the Feather.....

The results were outstanding. A great shave and no blood nor irritation. I guess you never really know until you try.
  19. Gentlemen, from my last shave...

Nothing. I just like checking in here, one of my fave threads!
