I think I've heard that before You are absolutely correct though. I now know if I had to use a Derby I could
For reasons that unknown I loaded a Feather in my Joris today. I needed a close shave and did not have enough time for a SR shave. I always thought a Feather would be too sharp in my Joris. I guess I was not completely awake so I loaded the Feather..... The results were outstanding. A great shave and no blood nor irritation. I guess you never really know until you try.
I should have bought a shave ready round point straight razor. I'm a rookie with three spike point razors. I'm starting to look like I got in a fight with a kitten.
I learned that the 6 oz Clubman A.S. is plenty(especially since I put Clubman away for the warm/hot months).
I learned that paladin brushes break in nicely but have a little bit of a learning curve Fellowship of cold water shavers
The slop in the blade alignment on my FaTip Grande lets me set the blade for one side slightly more exposure than the other, while keep the blade parallel between the cap and the combs. So I get one side slightly more aggressive for the first pass and a bit more mild for the second!
When in doubt about how many shaves are on a blade, better to toss it. Also that Strop Shoppe Date Night is an easy to load and face lather soap with a beautiful scent.
I learned that I get a better "jaw" shave by a combo of going "across the board"(as the saying goes) and then chipping at it (like the razor is an ice-chipper, but not with THAT intensity of course!!).
Reminded that Mitchell's Wool Fat is a fantastic soap. Also reminded that Fine American Blend is fantastic!
