Twins won't work in the PAL. You might be able to jam one in, but you'd risk screwing up the spring - not worth it. Besides, where twins really shine is when used with the milder Schicks. I have a couple of I1's (non-hydro-magic) that really come into their own with the twins. If you think the NOS twins are pricey, check out the Japanese Schick Twins - the NOS ones suddenly seem quite reasonable (and they last longer than the Japanese ones to boot). --Bob
Shave 2 Henckels Rapide Razor: Henckels Rapide Blade: Henckels Rapide (2) 60 laps before and after shave Soap:Rustic Shaving soap Lavenderwood AS: Old Spice I had 2 full days of growth to practice on. The blade seems to be smoothing out on this second shave. There is no tugging at all with any of my passes. Even ATG went smooth. I am finding I can really get my trouble spot under my jaw with a light buffing stroke combined with the J hook at the end. I use this stroke on my third and clean up pass. I find this razor to be fairly middle of the road on aggressiveness. That being said I think the reductions are pretty even each pass. The third pass on this was very smooth ATG and cleaned my face to a nice BBS tonight. Typing this, it actually feels better than when I finished. I had to concentrate a lot more on my passes, remembering to keep that blade spine off my face just a bit. I can really feel it when I have the angle correct. There is a wonderful feedback and feeling of the blade against my face. It is a bit and to describe, but when it was right it was RIGHT. I am going to keep at the wedges for the rest of this month. Practice honing and getting the feel of these wonderful tools. Tom
SOTD May 10, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G1 Injector Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: VDH Luxury scented Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Pretty nice shave again this morning with the G1. Not quite as close as yesterday's shave but still pretty good. I would touch-up around my jaw a little more if I did it again, but that's okay. All in all a good shave in one big pass with touch-up. This was shave 7 on the Chick blade with no signs of weariness. I want to get to 10 shaves and then I'll swap it out. Have a great day everyone!
I am on Day 5 with my Schick and I am so pleased with how this razor is performing. When I started I didn't like the fact that it was a lightweight razor, and that it felt small in my hand...but I have adjusted and now it feels quite natural. Fits like a glove. I learned from using various DEs that you have to use a razor for a period of time before you learn how it performs and how it handles on the turns. Its Day 5 with this Schick blade that I ordered from Amazon.ca (~$5 for 7 blades) and it is still sharp and smooth. Indeed I can't seem to detect much change in the blade from my first shave. I am going to try and get between 10 to 14 days on this blade, just to see where the outer limits are. With a DE blade I always change after 7 days. May 10, 2016 It’s Hydro-Magic May! I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1 Hot Shower Razor: 1958-1964 Schick Eversharp Type J3 "Golden 500" Blade: Schick (Holland) (3) Soap: Route 66 - The Black Pearl Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic TSD Witch Hazel AS: Myrsol Plastic Shave Two-pass shave (XTG, ATG). Smooth shaver, as are all of these Schick HMs. At this point I’m leaning towards the I2. Cheers! RT
Wow and he was one of my baseball heroes as a kid. I guess those razor commercials he did really paid off - they named a shaving move after him!
Thanks, I'm kinda excited to finally get one. If the description was accurate it should be damn fine. Fingers crossed!
Staying with the LE for another day. Its mild and a bit awkward to hold with its long handle but I'll keep at it...
Gonna move on to my "new" E3 and my Hermey brush, for some reason the K1 is not being kind. (Notice I blame the razor, not me or my technique? Just like golf, it's the equipment's fault I play so badly. ) Sorry Vince, I'm bailing on the Hydro-Magic May thing. I'll pretend.
Back to the wedges. Day 8 was celebrated with the Nordic Beauty again but with a different blade. Each shave continues to get better and better. The harshness is smoothing out and difficult areas are starting to cooperate. They are far more demanding of attention and technique than other SEs but I am enjoying that aspect. When you get a stroke that is right you really know it. I can see where this will be a whole different shaving experience as these become default.
