Thanks buddy! That wouldn't be good lol. Cant be as bad as my first drug test I took when I was starting my first job at 15. I was on Adderall when I was younger as I had ADHD (AKA typical super hyper normal kid) well Adderall is an amphetamine. I got the call back saying I wasn't hired as I tested positive for the Meth/Amphetamines slot. I had to bring in my prescription to show them I wasn't a meth head. Good ol Dennys...
@Mr. Freeze93 Congrats on the job. About the shave, I have never really seriously cut myself on a straight type razor but I have butchered myself on "safety" razors. It gets better., after about 90 shaves your hands just know what to do and you don't have to think about it as much.
Mystery May!! Weishi Day 2 - SOTD 9 May 2016 DFS on two! As with any DE, blade angle is everything. I even found myself riding the cap a bit more than usual, making the most of the mild geometry. Not as effortless as the 195, but a smooth irritation free shave. Bad weather, taking the afternoon off and was able to catch an early shave. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado! Weishi 9306 (Mystery blade (2)) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Route 66 - Lumberjack Alum TSD ISZ AS The Mighty Osage (scalp) Have a nice afternoon!
Well true. I will stick it out as long as I'm not dripping blood on the floor. Hmmmmm.....there's the Brotherhood of the Pain Stick.....maybe we need to become the Pain Twins. Twins of Pain. Pain Brothers. Brothers of Pain......anything yet? Oh, here it is......Two Idiots and Sharp Stuff.
Figured it was time for a new one. Tell me about it. As soon as I had a better offer I swan dived out of there ASAP.
Alright, how about a quick and informal survey. I'd like some input from this wonderful, marvelous, intelligent and really good looking group. I'm considering adding either a straight or a pain stick to my collection in a couple of weeks. I currently have two usable straights, the Rabbit and the Gold Dollar 800, which I haven't yet tried. I have the Feather SS for the pain stick category. (spring is broken on CJB). CJB has a new razor, the Greager, a heavier version and with an improved spring. There's also the Sam Seong that I haven't tried. I can also get the Gold Dollar 208 which some here really like. It's similar to the 800 but a Carbon blade. So, which should I get when the time is right...... 1. Greager from CJB 2. Sam Seong 3. Gold Dollar 208
I would go with the 208. Carbon is something you haven't tried in a straight shaped object before. You'll have to find someone willing to put in the time to sharpen it correctly and fix any issues it has. I would find that person first. My second choice would be the new CJB. The Sam Seong is very similar to the CJB and some of us have one. The new CJB is unknown to us so you could be our Guinea Pig honored tester.
I would suggest getting a better quality shave ready straight, since you already have a Feather for the pain stick category. Break away from the Gold Dollar and try a vintage that's been honed properly. Just my 2 cents.
Unless you are buying a modified Gold Dollar or have some skills in working with metal I do not recommend it. While the steel is good it requires more than just a honing to make it right. Once it is right it will shave. If you are looking for a cheap straight then I would recommend a Whipped Dog Sight Unseen razor. Cheep, ugly but shaves. The Sam Seong is similar in quality to the CJB but I prefer the CJB. I have not tried the Greager. If you look on line at the usually places you can find Feather DX at 'reasonable' prices.
After yesterday's weeper fest I decided to go with a mild shave, Dovo Master's straight. This razor was fresh off the pasted strops and tends to have a smooth and sharp edge. It did not disappoint, the edge was very smooth yet sharp. 3 1/2 passes and zero reaction from the alum and just short of BBS. I am surprised that for comfortable shave I reached for one of my straights. Irritation A+ Closeness A- Smoothness A+ Sharpness A
