I figured this would work really well or really bad, I didn't figure there would be an in between. I know from my straights and pain sticks that the best shaves I have ever gotten have been without guards of any kind, and being able to tweak the angle of the blade to my sweet spot. I typically do this by sound and feel. I forgot this soap has menthol in it, so it wasn't actually a great choice for this experiment. Love the lather, scent, and post shave feel though. I have never used this razor before, so I started with the comb side on my cheek for the WTG pass. Got the sound and feel quickly. Flipped to the no gaurd side and went to work. Based on this shave, I think the biggest thing the gaurd on a safety razor does is lets you put more pressure on the razor and takes that pressure away fro the razor's edge. I didn't cut myself, but have some irritation from it. I did manage to give myself a few good weepers while Changing the angle on my chin. I was at DFS with one pass. Just a few hairs shy of BBS on my second pass. Best shave I have gotten with a DE razor. I am going to have to use this again to dial it in. @
