Although I have several cobs, generally I prefer briar. But there is something about this Dagner, it is a nice looking cob! I'll be surprised if I don't eventually get around to getting one.

It looks super solid! How is the feel in the clench?

Having some Mac Baren Vanilla Creme in my Dr, Grabow El Dorado while I; once again; work of building MTG decks, lol. Spent 6 hours tonight at my buddies comic shop tonight playing with my friends; and we have officially begun forming a team for competition. I am now officially a Guildmaster! =D

It's a good pipe for clenchers, lightweight and short. The vulcanite stem is unfiltered, and fits other MM cobs, or at least the three I tried it on. I'm hoping this sells well enough that MM decides to produce an upgraded line with better quality stems.

I had an early morning bowl of PS 306 English Oriental Supreme in it this morning. There's still a bit of the new cob taste, but it's almost gone.

I may have to get one of them. It's a nice looking nose warmer. They have them on P&C?

It really is a nice cob pipe and the stem makes all the difference to me. I wish MM would offer it in there other pipes as well, it would be worth the small price increase.

Sunday afternoon pipe.....Esoterica Peacehaven in a Michal Novak Rare Wood pipe. Zero break-in with this pipe. I'm thinking I may hold off on any other purchases, save money for a while and get another Novak, perhaps one of his mid-range pipes, which would equate to high-end for Tony!

    Saturday after pipe project.
I was wanting another garage/yard/grass cutting pipe, and had really good luck with my last Briary brand counter pipe, so I picked up another one in sandblast "natural finish." It actually had a light stain applied, versus my other that only had a wax coat applied and lightly buffed out. When doing garage/yard work, I clench a lot and wanted a bent, but didn't see one I liked. So I picked up this straight, with the idea of replicating the bend on my 4th Generation. Using a candle flame, I passed the stem back and forth, going top to bottom, and then applying a slight bend and then dunking in cold water to set it. The bend was successful, and you can see that in the second photo. I included the third, because Gunner, down in the yard, and unknown to me at picture taking time, had taken a keen interest in my project and sat down where his head was visible!

While the stem mod went okay, overall this pipe is a fail. The hole, and I knew it at time of purchase but took a chance against my better judgement, is a little high and not on bottom. So I will probably always have more dottle at the bottom than desired. Plus, while I love the small amount of bend in the 4th Gen, this is not ideal for garage/yard work when clenching a lot. Plus, the shank/stem is too long for comfortable long term clenching. I can easily clench the 4th Gen, but that pipe is reserved for sitting down when I can relax, and clenching is very short, time wise.

Interesting project, but I missed the mark on this one. I took it on a test drive yesterday working in the garage, and it is not a good performer. Lesson - get a bend, length of shank/stem appropriate to clenching, and get one with a draft hole at the bottom or really close! Plus, on less expensive pipes, they sometimes work out, and sometimes not.

No, I got mine from Aristocob.

They seem to be on backorder too, I had to wait about 3 weeks, I heard they had a shortage of stems at MM.

EDIT: And it appears you can order them directly from MM also.

Just checked em out. Ouch! Very pricey for a cob pipe!

Looks worth it. The freehand is pricey too and from what I have heard everyone loves it. I've hit a pipe low and a radio high so I'm devoting more time and money into my radio habit or I would be drooling over the Dagner more. I still haven't gotten a reply to my question from the Aristocob people either.

Maybe; but it's still a cob. You can get equally sized, quality briar nose warmers for the same price or even a few dollars less. Now one like the Wizard Cobbit, ok; I can see the price on that.

I ran across something I found interesting, so decided to share it for the Orlik smokers who might not know this. I checked a tin of Golden Sliced I bought recently, and it was tinned in Sept 2015.

Once more having some Mac Baren Vanilla Creme while I create a Facebook page and work on a logo. A name has officially been chosen for my new MTG guild and this Saturday will be the first official meeting! At the risk of sounding like a nerd (which I proudly am!!! lol), I must say I am VERY excited! =)
