    I almost feel bad skipping shaving for the last few days. Then again it is extra beard for the Sharp blade and hurt hinge to tackle so I may be making it harder on myself.

    Forgot to post yesterday's shave. Attempted to use my WR Case & Sons with the Owl scales. Had spent a little time on the hones with it, but I need to go back further in my grits. After one WTG pass, I tapped out and went to the Genco straight. Ended up with a DFS, pretty close to BBS. The 42 soap is the answer. Scent is "Petunias, Ambergris, Tea, and Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster" I got a clean floral soap, that smelled very fresh. Even when my razor wasn't working, I didn't panic. Just grabbed my towel and went on for the ATG pass with a sharper razor. (I would like to point out for those new to this thread, that it is not always necessary or desirable to power through a bad shave for the entertainment of your online friends. For those that do, we salute you!)

    New Mayhem

    This week I received a new shavette, a Focus Slim. It takes a 1/2 DE blade. I loaded it with a cartel approved blade after flattening the corners that are bent from folding the blade in half.

    There is not a lot of blade exposure and the shave was milder than expected. 4 passes and no irritation, no blood and just caught the baby.

    Compared to a Parker shavette and the Dovo shavette I prefer this razor for a shavette that uses a split DE blade. It is heavier and has little more exposure than the Dovo. Compared to a CJB or Fether DX, there is no comparison, the CJB and Feather are allot more aggressive. It is like comparing a Gillette Tech to a R41. Also the 1/2 DE blade shavettes take longer to shave and require more rinsing.

    well dang the picture I took was too big to post. well anyway here it goes.

    SOTD
    5/18/16

    Razor: Gillette Aristocrat NDC
    Blade: Voskhod
    Soap: Catie's Bubbles / sandal wood
    Brush: TGN Finest in Olive wood handle

    Pre shave: shower and face wash with Nivea face wash soap
    Post Shave cold water rinse, Maggard alum block, Walmart witch hazel, Gillette after shave balm

    Well I got really close to a BBS tonight, but with minor irritation. It's my own fault, got excited over this new razor and chased the baby, Oops! First pass was WTG, got excellent reduction, second pass was XTG better still, third pass ATG and was feeling really good at that point. Then I went and did it, Clean up, I just had to do it and chase the baby, well I just about got it but at a price, a little irritation and one small weeper. Mind you I wasn't really trying to chase the baby but get my closest shave yet. I did and can feel it! cold water rinse, and then used the alum, yep I could tell I went too far, applied the witch hazel and then the Gillette after shave lotion, felt the burn. I hoping the next shave will be a little better.
