Same here. I have a few vintage Gillettes and one Schick G1 and the G1 shaves as well or better than any of the Gillettes. I still like the DEs but the G1 gives a great 2-pass shave.

I have been checking eBay lately and I find the prices for Type Gs to be very high and if you add shipping it is more. Try antique stores...they usually have Type G razors. I have a few and I didn't pay more than $10 for any of them. If you buy one...buy a good one and it will last another 60 years.
I'd agree with others. I now use my injectors more than my DE's. I started with a G6. Now this week I've been using an E2 and E3 and they are definitely more aggressive/efficient. BBS shave in 2 passes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In anticipation of receiving @twhite 's Bunny to test, @Bama Samurai sent me a type J and a couple blades. Having just finished a 30 day Focus using straight razors, I can agree that injectors give a close shave. I haven't sold my '59 FatBoy, but it's a toss up which I'll use on any given shave.
We're in a similar shave nirvana. Schick G, straights, 1959 FB are my top three. The feeling of a good injector shave very closely approximates the feel of a straight shave. Good stuff!
Wow, I just saw this thread. But even though I'm out of town for a bit and you got all the advice you need... I'll just affirm the path you may find yourself on...ymmv. I spent my first 6 months learning on DEs - loved them - and ditched 40! years of carts. Then I stumbled onto an injector. After the last 8 months down that rabbit hole I have nearly two dozen injectors. Again -YMMV - but if it's for you, enjoy the ride! I'm waiting for the Scottish Ninja book as well. But in fairness...he's essentially written it! It's all on TSD already, just follow him, read through his posts and hang out at the SE & Injector Party! There's a ton of great info there for the injector newbie. I've learned nearly all I know about injectors from all the wisemen on that thread. Cheers! RT

The G was the last model that I got. It is a great razor to start with. I also have C, E, I, J, L, M.

(Not to mention all the blades that go with them.) What would I do without you guys?!!! Now you all got me searching for a mint GEM Damaskeene!!!

They even create NEW injectors like the Bunny @twhite !! and new blades like the FergieFeather! @Billyfergie AND use girl razors like the Ladies Fashion Razor and The Deb (Schick H) as well as the Lady Eversharp Beauty Razor (K) led by Madame Hussy @Karl G !!!
