**DONE** Straight and Strop Redux PIF

I'm in! I have the leather zip up wallet that my mom bought me when I was going into the first grade and would need to carry my lunch money.

Here is a picture of the strop I made for my Ever Ready Automatic Stropper. It is not pretty bit it gets the job done.

 

I'm in! I can't decide between two leather items, first one is a zip up coin purse that my grandfather gave me when I was 5 that he used to carry for years, or the eel skin wallet my aunt gave me when I was about 10 years old. I'm 42 now so I have had both a good while. I'm really wanting to get into straight razor shaving, it's my next wet shaving goal I want to go after.

 

I'm in, birthday before my son moved to South Carolina he bought me this coin purse that's just awesome. So soft you can't tell its in the pocket.

I have several sentimental leather Items that I greatly love. I'll try to provide some pics tomorrow. Among them are a leather back quiver/bow scabbard given to me by the gentleman who trained me in archery and taught me how to make my own arrows, by hand, from scratch! A leather gun belt and holster for a 6 shooter given to me by my dad when I started competitive shooting; as well as another he gave me for a service revolver when I became a private contractor. And lastly (at least for this list); a set of studded leather bracers, half gauntlets, girdle (the wide belt used as armour) and diadem (or headband); given to me by my family when I earned my Blademaster title (it's packed away in a trunk, but holds a great deal of sentimental value).

My favorite leather item would have to be my old Marlboro leather wallet that was given to me from a best friend a long, long time ago.

 

I'm in! I have a strong sentimental attachment to a leather belt. It was my grandfather's, he wore it often as it was his favorite. I now wear it daily at work. It's the best belt I've ever owned. It doesn't have a name so I couldn't buy another if I wanted to but it's a testament to quality materials. I know that's what @Drygulch uses in his products and why I wish I owned one of his strops. Thank you for the opportunity to own one.

I have a pair of Scarpa Attak boots I bought when I was in college, some 20+ years ago. They are the best pair of boots I've ever owned. they were on closeout and were about $240 if I can remember correctly. I have a hard time with shoes/boots and these were way out of my price range, but the guy at the store talked me into trying them on. They have been great boots. I hope to get another 20 years out of them. I think the original price was close to $400, and that was 1993/4?. I think I'd have to actually travel to Italy and have boots made to be a better fit.

Purchased from two different sellers on ebay, my favorite leather item is a set. A matching jacket and chaps from Barney's Leathers for riding.

 

I'm in. Been intrigued by straights, and would like to give it a shot.
My favorite leather piece is a motorcycle jacket, I've had forever. Took a long time to break in, but comparable with a well worn pair of jeans. The thing must weigh 10 pounds

 

Great PIF! I'm in!! My most sentimental object made of leather is my leather portfolio that holds a legal pad that used to belong to my poppop (grandfather).

 

I've had my leather for over 10 years and its still not broken in right.

 

I got lucky. My jacket arrived in great near new condition smelling of a fresh lotion wipe down. It's fit just right from day one.

 

Mine has just started to soften around the elbows and shoulders. the rest could stand on its own. Really thick leather.

 

It's not a "I want to look like I ride" jacket.
It's a "Save your hide by covering it with a layer of cow hide" jacket.
I'm a all the gear, all the time style rider. Full face helmet, kevlar gloves, mid calf boots. Won't catch me in flipflops and beach shorts on a bike.

 

Next week is looking busy for me and I'd like to get this package on the road before then. Therefore I will end this PIF sometime tonight and draw a winner then. Then I plan to mail it out tomorrow!
