Mystery May!!! Feather TTO Week - 24 May 2016 Feather Popular TTO Mystery Blade (2) Barbasol Arctic Chill Alum TSD 2x Iced FW type AS Second verse, same the first...another sweet shave. Alum verified and the TSD Splash finished what was a near BBS on two. Ride the cap, y'all! Hail, tornadoes and rainbows out on the prairie today. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Wait......what?! Time to send Ivan and Igor on the road to Kyoto and find out what's going on here. Or, as the Sicilians say, it may be time to go to the mattresses. :ahem:
What everyone was cut in? and Cookies. There is something afoot around here I didn't get any cookies or cut in! Neal, what's going on here?
Somethings rotten around here. I can smell it in the air. Oh, sorry, maybe not....that was just Yuri walking by with yesterday's caviar and he hasn't showered in a week.
Razor: The Real Safety Razor by Geo. W. Korn Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Horsehide/ Linen Towel: Yeah, I know where it is. Brush: Dubl Duck/ Omega Boar Soap: Barrister & Mann 42 Post: Cold Water, Alum, Thayers’ Aftershave: Fine La’Orange Noir Happy Towel Day! Today, in honor of Douglas Adams (1952-2001) I will have a towel with me all day. Towels are important for intergalactic travel. “…it has great practical value – you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you – daft as a bush, but very, very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.” To keep the Mayhem vibe going for this shave, I am using a new to me and new style of razor. I touched it up on a hone, but won’t be using the safety guard. I am also using a new strop, with a type of horsehide I haven’t used before and a new style. Being Towel day, I had to use the 42 soap. The scent is listed as Petunias, ambergris, tea, Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster (lemon sugar). Shave was great, but different than anything I have ever used for a razor before. This thing is light, lighter than my straights, lighter than my pain sticks, and lighter than most of my DEs. It made the pressure a little tricky. The curve in the handle is an awesome leverage point, like the tail of a straight, but longer. It also would fit into your palm if you cupped the end of the handle. I ended up using my finger on the spine of the blade to keep it steady. I did a N/S pass, an XTG on my neck, and chin, and a S/N pass. I ended up with a high grade DFS, one weeper, and some irritation where I chased the baby the other day with the mongoose. 42 soap is the answer to shaves, the universe, and everything. Scent is awesome, and I got no Vorgan vibe from it. My new strop works great, and I know where my towel is!
The Vorgon on the lid of the 42 reminds me of the line: "The best way to get a drink out of a Vorgon is to stick your finger down his throat." Just the other day was Water Day at my daughters school, where they have a day of water slides and water balloon fights etc...(Sorry, California.) the night before she was getting everything ready and said Dad, I need a towel. I replied, Yes you do, baby. Everywhere you go.

Wednesday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle Blade- Astra SP (1) Soap- Mama Bear's Soaps Obsessed for Men Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO AS- Old Spice My first go thanks to @Tim Spencer with the Mama Bear's soap and I really enjoyed it. First the scent is very similar to Obsession. It lathered beautifully, had a decent amount of slickness and offered good protection. I am definitely keeping this soap in my rotation. The only problem with it is that I have to buy some Obsession cologne to go with it I used an Astra blade today which I haven't used in the R41 yet and it performed wonderfully. I rode the cap to a three pass BBS shave and I had zero irritation. Perfect way to start the day. Have a great day folks!
I'm glad that I am spending this last week of the month with the Red Tip. I really do enjoy shaving with it, but after today's shave I can tell you that I need to dial it in a little more. Not that today's shave was bad, but I did give myself a little bit of irritation on the neck and jawline. Another cold water shave and stinging from the Alum in more places then I expected. I wonder if the cold water is dulling my sense of touch too much and is causing me to apply more pressure then I realize. I will try warm water next time to see how it goes. I took some of my witch hazel and put it into a 3 oz spray bottle along with a teaspoon of pure aloe and 5 drops of tangerine EO. It felt great and masked the smell of the witch hazel enough to be tolerable. Nivea to sooth the spots where I could feel irritation and in the end a BBS shave. Have a great day friends!

MAYhem 25th, 2016 Wedding Anniversary Shave: Razor: Alumigoose Head/ Stirling DE3P2 Stainless Steel Handle Blade: Kai Captain Brush: JR #23 Silvertip Lather: Tabac Post Shave Face Care: Maggard Alum Block/ Thayers Medicated Superhazel (Didn't need either but used them anyway) Aftershave: Fine American Blend Four years ago today at the ripe old age of 18 I managed to pull a rabbit out of my hat and convince my lovely wife to say "I do" without scaring her off or getting maced. Besides the excessive sweating, fighting the urge to pass out (nerves), and the peaceful support of my Dad "Stand up straight!!!"..."Get your hands out of your pockets"... "If you get sick I am going to strangle you with your tie"... "For the love of all things holy, Ray, look at her...not at your feet".. it was honestly one of the best days of my life which only takes a backseat to the birth of my 3 kids. Now at the help of a few members here they reminded me I don't have looks going for me so I broke out all my favorites for my shave today so I knew I was going to have a great shave without damaging my face and looks any further. 4 pass shave today. WTG, XTG, XTG (other direction) ATG and I am Flipper the Dolphin Smooth. Finished of with Alum and Thayers, followed by a cold water rinse. Topped everything off with Fine American Blend. Feeling Good, Smelling Great, Looking....Well my Mom say's I am handsome so there...
Straight Mayhem I got humbled today by this spike tip. Everything was going great until the second pass and I caught the tip. Fortunately it was just a scratch that weeped a little but it was a reminder that I need to respect this razor. Mitchell's Wool Fat AoS Pure Badger Otto Deutsch Hans Alum Lucky Tiger PAA Déjà Fougère AS Happy Wednesday!
Congratulations on your anniversary, and a lifetime more of great ones I hope for you! "May the odds be ever in you two's favor".
