If you aren't going old school, what disposable razor would you choose?

Well,

For me, since I just started shaving with an old school safety razor, the disposable I have been using for years prior was the Schick Slim Twin Sensitive for Men.



I rarely ever got nicks or cuts and was the most comfortable resulting shave of any razor I ever used. I tried many others, but none were this reliable for me. Now I'm going old school and hope the consistency remains the same.

 

None. I just a Trac II for years, and there are still cartridges for that razor. So for the days I can't use a DE razor, I'm going back to the twin blade.

I was using the Dorco Pace 3 & 4 before switching to DE's . Just as good as Mach 3 or Fusion for 1/4 the price

I've always hated carts because they filled with whiskers for me, especially with a growth. Carts are the reason I came to DEs.
Then I found the Gillette Guard, sold on Ebay, via India. It's only sold in India, with the guess Gillette is using it to kill DE demand in the third world. Sorry to say, the Guard and my Merkur Progress are tied for first as my favorite of a dozen razors. Priced at 27¢ per cart, they last me 3-4 times a DE. Shave very fast, but not as fun.

 

I like the full-metal-handle of the Gillette Contour/Atra - Timeless design, a good weight and looks very nice
A razor that that is useable for one or two generations
I hope it shaves so good as it looks ... I couldn't test ist yet

 

I like the single blade BiCs; the orange and white sensitive are very good, and quite easy to find -- EVERYBODY has these. I think the single blade BiC METAL are the very best disposable. They became impossible to find for a while, but Amazon has 'em now.

I don't know if they shave better than the orange ones (maybe a tad more aggressive), but they look way cooler and feel better in my hand. Just like the OP, I was using the Schick ST2 disposables as my regular razor (the little tab that cleans between the two blades is extremely clever and effective) until I started using DE razors.

I don't hate cartridge multi-blade razors, they just lose in competition to any DE -- just like aerosol shaving foam isn't terrible, it just isn't nearly as good as lather made from cream or soap.

Agreed. If there's a mix-up with my luggage at the airport, the Bic Metal is the disposable I seek out.

 

I change my vote. You're right, forget about that Bic!

 

Gillette Sensor 3.

 

Dorco's Trac II/Atra compatibles, Bic, ShaveMax, Noxema/Kai, WS, new, vintage, I like 'em all.

 

I'm pretty fond of the Gillette Guard out of India.

 

Almost 18 years I've shaved with disposable razors, and these were my favorites.

I was using Derby Body and Derby Samurai 3, two and a half years ago..

 

Ironically, Samurai only carried two blades.

 

I'd grow a beard…
