  4. I see you have been showing your Schick Simplified Automatic some love lately as have I mine....
I shaved everyday for the past week with it...So today after discussing my top tier razor's relationships to the C3...I decided to take my battle proven PAL Injecto-matic out for a spin....

Listen guys....I'm not on a soap box about Repeaters or anything....but after 3 passes with my beloved injecto, I had to do a clean-up with my C3 to get the sort of clean shiney Dolphin thing happening, like I've been getting every day this past week.....And my Schick Simplified Automatic C3 did not disappoint....

I know part of it might be that I've bonded this past week with the C3's idiosyncrasies....But the fact remains...This C3 took the PAL out to the woodshed and spanked him....:happy097:

Now the PAL doesn't need to prove itself...It already has, but then the same is true for this repeater....This one proved itself again tonight.....This just might endup being my desert island razor....:happy108:

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Lather: VDH Luxury...trying to use it up!
Post: Witch hazel, Aqua Velva, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Back to the Chick blade today after a sojourn with Pella blades. Chicks are the way to go for me! Smooth, close, comfortable shave. The VDH is on its last leg. I think I'll get one more shave out of it. It's been a great soap.

The Aqua Velva didn't sting near as much as last time. It felt good. All in all a good shave!

    Enjoy your day!

  10. Use it till it's done!

Wow! It looks like one swirl of the brush will finish it off.

  11. Yes some operating instructions would be a great idea especially for us who are new to using injectors.

  12. I think you're right! The next shave with the VDH should be the last.
  13. Razor: Alumigoose in Black
    Blade: Feather Professional
    Brush: Omega Professional 10098 Boar
    Soap: Route 66 Retro Spice
    A/S: Old Spice Fresh Lime
Mug: Old Spice Cobalt Blue 1985

First shave with the Alumigoose, what a treat it was. Right out of the box loaded a Feather Professional and bam, a darn near BBS. I was a little surprised at the width of the head. Just a different look, wasn't ready for it. I matched the 10098 with the Retro Spice, a match made in heaven. I saw Mark's post with the 10098 which I can remember how long it has been since I used that brush, so I put it to work.
    Outstanding shave.
Thanks for the Old Spice travel bag idea Don. :)

Today's shave: Thursday June 2, 2016 (also yesterday and the day before)

    Ever-Ready 1924 Touring Set (circa 1927)
Gem stainless steel ptfe coated blade (3)
    Plisson synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber soap & aftershave

I enjoyed revisiting the 1914 so much over the weekend that I decided that it was time to take another look at the 1924, so I've been using this Touring Set for the past 3 days. With its shiny nickel plated case and red velvet lining it is one of the prettiest sets in my collection.

When using the 1914 I had been pleasantly surprised by the complete lack of the usual first few shave harshness associated with the stainless steel Gem blades. That harshness returned with a vengeance with the shift to the 1924. The first two shaves were extremely close but produced a few weepers and the aftershave had far more than the usual bite.

Today the blade settled in and the harshness was greatly reduced. I enjoyed an excellent BBS shave with no weepers and only a slight hint of irritation.

Interesting - I used to feel that the 1924 was smoother than the 1914, but my recent experience was exactly the opposite.

  17. I had a Rolls Razor blade honed some time ago but set it aside while I got some practice time with my other wedge SEs. It was only the second shave with a Rolls for me. The first one was with a blade that was sharp but not quite shave ready. This one didn't feel a whole lot better. The first pass was tuggy but the second pass was much better, smooth even for a good part of it. The end result was good but not quite BBS. But, no blood so I'm feeling pretty good about it. :happy036:
