The knob is definitely solid. Anyway I figure I'm somewhere in the ballpark now and that's..ok..:happy069:

It's easiest just to plug in "Brit Pat" followed by the patent number of the razor you are looking for. It's how I scored both my #58 and my #51/53 Aristocrat Juniors.

Great thread. Thanks for your work. :signs107:
It´s the first time that I see, that the #58 was called Aristocrat jr. too. Very interesting!

Another exceptional piece of work, Ryan! Thank you for posting. I'm the happy owner of a #51/#53 model as well!

Nope. Won it during PIF month in 2013 from Lradke. Come to think of it, since Luke is Canadian, it might have been a Canadian Aristocrat Junior Rocket. In the end: same difference. ;)

And great razor all the same! :bounce017:

Added info to the original post regarding the #49 set, a previously unknown (to me at least) Aristocrat Junior.

The razors of the #48 and #49 set are the same. Interesting is, that the instruction of the #49 shows a open comb razor.

... and don´t forget the gold Aristocrat jr

I will hold off on adding the gold one until I know more about it. Most of the instruction inserts for the Aristocrat #21 are the same as the #15 inserts. Both show an open comb razor. I wonder why Gillette would develop new cases for their razors, but reuse instructions?

Hello, great thread Ryan! I have one of the Canadian A. J. (Rocket) versions. It seems to be a '53. It is a fantastic razor. One of my best shavers.

Hi again, here's a photo of my my two Canadian Rocket's -

    IMG_3627.JPG

I think they are both 1953's. One is an AJ, and the other seems to be a standard Canadian Rocket.

How do you tell the difference . In the cases, they look the same.

Hi, sorry it's taking me so long to respond, my device is messing up. I think the rocket style razor has patent pending inside the blade tray. The Aristocrat Junior style razor seems like a '53 as well. I haven't really examined the cases yet.

If you look at the underside of the heads, the one on the bottom has a stamped diamond shaped baseplate, making it a Rocket.

The top one has a machined baseplate, making it an Aristocrat Jr.

I don't know how I missed this post. Sharp eyes, Gorgo. It seems that the American Aristocrat Jr. has been misidentified as a Ranger Tech/Super Speed hybrid for the last ten years or so. Do you know if all '47 super speeds have this collar?

Edit: after doing a little digging, they do not. The collar is unique to the Aristocrat Jr.

Edit 2: I have updated the OP with this new information. Finally we have a way to identify the American Aristocrat Jr without the case. :)
