I went to a local flea market this morning and stumbled upon these two razors. One is a Henry Sears and the other is a Kiebitz. The Henry Sears seems alright, with no damage to the blade or scales and the pins are reasonably tight. It does need a good honing as there is a slight "smile" on it. The Kiebitz razor looks mint! The scales are gorgeous and there a design on the spine. It looks barely used. I can't find much on the internet on the Kiebitz, but I did find that they were made in the 1950s in Germany. I paid $40 for both. I think I did okay.
Those are beautiful!! What awesome pieces of history! I can't wait til I can go to a flea market and find stuff like this!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice Jim. Great find. No luck here at flea markets, garage & estate sales or antique stores. Palm Beach County, Florida not a very good hunting ground. Let us know how they filet . Don
Okay ??? Dude I am calling the Police you stole those Shhhhhhhhhhwwwwweeeeettttttttnessssss !!!!!!!!!!
The guy selling them first said $50 for the Kiebitz. I told him I wasn't interested. Then I picked up the Henry Sears and he said $30. I put it down. Then I asked how much if I buy both and he said $40. What????? $40? I'll take them. I paid the man and got out of there fast! I started cleaning up the blade on the Henry Sears. It's looking good. The Kiebitz needs nothing but a honing. Anyway, I think it was a steal!
I spent some time cleaning up both of these razors and I'm really happy with both. The Henry Sears is looking better than I expected. The scales and blade are solid, with no chips or cracks. I've polished the blade and it has a shine now. I'm just using a fine steel wool and some metal polish. I want to go over it one more time before honing it. I would like to tighten up the hinge pin just a little, but I'm not sure how to do that. Any suggestions?
