Focusing on my Schick Type L (L1 and L7) this month using a variety of blades.

    06-14-16.JPG

    1-day growth, 2-pass shave - XTG, ATG
Two shaves with this combo - both were near perfection. I almost just want to end the blade competition now - it’s just that good. But, I’ve waited a long time to try the NOS Twin blade in a Schick razor, so a few more shaves with this combo and then to the Twin.

    Cheers!

  8. Thanks for the lesson I always wondered how it worked. Quite an ingenious design plus great looking. I especially like the (brass?) as it reminds me of the type F. The name?. I 'm still getting used to it.
  9. So this shave only partly qualifies for the party thread as it included my Grandpa's most used straight. A month or two ago I got it and another one of his straights professionally honed. I put it to the test today. Yeah, can't say much good I am afraid. Tuggy and it left me with blood dripping in a number of places. After working with the SE wedges I thought my technique would be at least close to competent. To check it out I tried out the other straight I have from my Grandpa and it was like night and day. So, I've concluded that the honemeister didn't know how to work with a blade with spine wear from years of honing. :angry032:

It wasn't a total loss. I had my trusty Eddison Floating Head as the back up razor and I was not planning on doing more than WTG with the straight. It's paired with a NOS Personna II twin and shaved like pure heaven. :happy036:

    AOS Lavender PSO
    Sterling Glacial Lemon Chill
    Gebrüder Ziegler well worn 5/8
    Nielsen's Never Fail 5/8
    Eddison Floating Head
    NOS Personna II (3)
    Osma Alum Block
    AOS Lavender After Shave Balm
    AngelSoft Tissue Paper

I have a razor exactly like yours. I just thought it was a Schick Injector Adjustable that someone took the label out of the handle indention but I guess it an M 3 Protector. That's good to know. Thanks Tom.

Not all M3's are protectors. The Protector has a lever on the bottom side of the razor. It slides forward to to protect the blade. I can take some pictures tonight if you want.

Have you tried twin blades in it yet?

Mine has the lever on the bottom side of the razor also. No I haven't tried twin blades in it yet all I have used are the Chinese Schick blades at least I think that's what they are I ordered them off Amazon. IMG_20160606_152628.jpg

  13. Ken, you have Twin blades and you haven't tried them?! :rolleyes005:
  14. [IMG]
Yeah those are Chinese Schick Blades ..The Twin Set up is like a Single Twin Blade rather than Twin Blades so to Speak..One is Sitting on Top of & Slightly Behind the Other unlike a Cartridge System..The Twins are Game Changers for Sure..:)

  15. Shoot me a PM I will send you a couple.

  16. How are these blades? For use in a GEM Featherweight or GEM MMOC?

    IMG_0584.JPG

I've heard the name Treet before but haven't used these blades. Are they carbon steel? Should they be palm stropped before use?

Thanks for any info and opinions!
  17. Some Folks like them..Some Hate them..They are Carbon Steel & Require Drying after every Use..Palm Stropping will Blunt them in My Opinion..:angelic007:

  18. Look guys, I found this old Pal Adj. commercial on youtube! :)

  19. SOTD June 14, 2016

Stepped off the G train for a day to use the GEM MMOC.

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM MMOC
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, minor touch-up

Nice shave in one pass with minimal touch-up with the GEM MMOC. This razor is really efficient. I reminded myself again and again to use no pressure and that seemed to help. I felt a little raw after the last shave with this razor but today am feeling better. Close, comfortable, enjoyable shave in one pass with minor touch-up.

    Have a great evening folks!
