SOTD June 15th Merkur 34C Rapira Super Stainless La Toja (grated in the bowl) Satin Tip the Purest Good morning everyone! Today's shave was with the incredibly inexpensive Rapira Super Stainless. And super it was! It was sharp and smooth and left me thinking wow what a great budget blade. I know there are a lot of theories out there that some of the Rapira blades are the same except for packaging. But for me this blade was way better then the Super Stainless Chrome which comes in the red and blue package. Not quite as sharp as the Platinum Lux IMO but still sharp enough to produce smooth strokes without any hint of tugging. The only indication that I had that it wasn't quite as sharp as top tier blades is that it didn't cut as close as others. So I did 3 passes today for a very nice DFS that is bordering on BBS. The alum was quiet and my face is happy! Next shave I will try this blade in a slightly more aggressive razor and see how it goes! Have a great day my friends!
Sandalwood Wednesday Through The Fire Fine Craft makes some great products. Devil's Cut is no exception - bourbon sandalwood is a nice combination, and the scent is strong enough without overpowering. The lather is yogurty good and protective. My face is smooth and comfortable. The aftershave is very moisturizing- it takes a while to absorb, but feels great when it does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Williams Wednesday SOTD Gillette Canadian Tech 38-45 / Feather (2) Williams Tonsorial Rubberset Vintage Pure Badger Forever Gentlemen's Pride ASB Aqua Velva Original Sport Williams soap is a great preforming soap and the vintage Williams makes mounds of thick slick lather in seconds. The one drawback when using vintage soaps is the lack of scent, other than a pain soapy scent. On second thought that is not really a drawback as I rather enjoy a clean soapy scent. That being said, the Williams made the stubble stand up and take notice, and the Tech loaded with a Feather wiped away the whiskers leaving me Dolphin smooth. Have a blessed day gentlemen. June 15/2016 Razor: Schick J1 injector. Blade: Ted Pella (1) Lather: Italian Barber Brush: The Horse With No Name Again Pre Shave Oil: Gillette Gel/Brut Splash On Newspaper Date: Feb 3, 1944 Aaaah, much better, My "Lady J" did her thing again. I`m thinking of dumping all other razors and just use her (not really) but it`s a thought. That would get boring after awhile. I do have some smooth shavers in my den. Then I also need to experiment some (that`s what got me in trouble). My 1st pass was WTG,,,, smooth as silk, no bumps or crevices to iron out, just smooth sailing all the way. The 2nd pass was pretty much the same, with my hands not as pliable as they once were, the ATG is a little more difficult, but my "Lady" came through with a good strong DFS. I`m kinda proud because of the way my face was all beat up. "All`s Well That Ends Well", as they say. An enjoyable shave in all, so I`m well pleased. Hope everyone else is too. Bill
